Fyi when I bolt a trans up I push the converter into the pump as far as it will go then bolt the trans up, and by hand move the converter forward to line up with the flexplate.

this way its almost impossible not to have pump gears lined up..
 
I feel like having the truck at your place (are you moved in yet?) will be the biggie. It seems like currently you have two modes which are vicious cycles leading one into another. And tahts that you go all out, 110% over the top crazy, which leads you into burnt out mode. If you could just work on it as hobby like it should be and like it is, maybe you can even out those crazy cycles and just have it be a more even level of fun.

We are moved in just haven't been able to get my truck and tools over yet, which should be soon.

This It's a whoooooole lot easier to find leisure at a leisurely pace.
