Hole saw the 2 radii on the ends

Drill the plug weld holes.

Slip over the frame spud thats welded to the frame already and stitch everything up. BAZINGA :waytogo:

Should be picking up the steel tomorrow or Friday. I'm going to draw up a few combinations and see which one works and looks the best.
 
We are talking about real welds. JB weld won't quite do it.

Nope, I'm to eager to get this thing going.. Unfortunately if I don't make friends with a welder here soon I'll probably be paying 150 for materials and labor welding a hour. :doah:

Whats a "spud" off the frame???

It's the stand off for the hoops off the frame is my understanding...

How many degrees max would be a safe notch on the hoops? I'm thinking I wont have to do much cause of the offset mount being 2 and 3/8ths to the center of the bolt. But I also have to hide the bump stop behind the shock.
 
Would a long fish plate benefit from frame flex in the middle of the frame between the cab and bed?


Also on stitch welding it, why would that benefit? I have been doing some researching and everyone completely welds around it? :dunno:

Also my frame spuds at 1.75. would a 2 inch hole cut in the fish plate be enough to add more weld area or is 2 1/4 needed?
 
Im my mind, because welding causes stress on the steel. If you skip around a little it leaves spots that dont have the stress.
 
I welded my steering box frame repair kit all the way around only to realize that its supposed to be stitched :doah:
 
Generally you stitch or skip weld to prevent putting too much heat in one area which causes warping and distortion.
 
I think he meant skip weld around the entire perimeter. Weld 2" skip 2" but I would go back and forth across the plate. I don't think he filled in between but I'm just guessing. I've always just bolted things in.
