Don’t be giving up all my secrets. :haha:

Good to see you posting again.

I do have 5 digit posts but most were from 10+ years ago. I quit posting very much once I started working in the industry.

Better to keep your mouth closed or something the quote goes. Arguing with people online is pretty much bad press.

Aside, my otherwise stock 4L80E with a shift kit (from a ~150kish mile van, not rebuilt) in my '72 C-pickup with GM truck 6.0 and turbo has been making upper 3 digit power, ("maybe" just into 4 digits crank these days) for about 3 years. Haven't even dropped the pan in that time and it's been money, just something to think about if the time comes. If you see 4L60E and 4L80E parts side by side, you'll see what people are talking about. The way they apply power is pretty different too with bands and such, you can guess which way that tips.

But, I'm a huge proponent of using what you have together rather than trying to build more than what you need. If you use it, you'll learn where you want to be. None of us will ever be the fastest/most capable, but upgrading and modifying is definitely fun. Trying to build "too much" can also end with never finishing or using your project and I hate seeing that, happens a lot.

Together and usable/fun is way better than jack stands.

So basically, if you break it again, think strongly about a 4L80E. Until then, burnout videos! :saweet:

When I upgraded to the Holley ecu this was one of the reasoning to swap to a 4l80e and until then I’ll find the limit of this trans one day but I’m really not nice to it.

It will last longer than stock but likely still fail.

In one aspect I agree, use it until it brakes and then fix it. But at the same time, I don't recommend that, unless you have a backup plan to get home.

I'm not one to just throw it together and use it. I like to know I reduced my chances of failure. Although you did have it built more stout, you have that going for you. In your situation, maybe if you boost it just keep the boost low pressure until you upgrade the trans. Then you can do it in stages and not leave it down for too long.

Did it shear the front bolts off the hitch?
No, I was to lazy to trim the washers to put those bolts in... When the ORD hangers went on the washer didn't allow it to sit flush.

I never did like the way it was. I'll build a flat qtr inch flat plate washer that goes between the frame and hitch along the entire surface. Also that cross member has been bent for some time, might try and find a new one and replace it and use the trailer hitch bolts to secure it into the frame.

My hitch has the same spacer things and I don't like them either. It's like they should have put holes in it to go around the rivets instead of just spacing it out.

Yes, exactly what I have thought but I have had a long bed c10 on the back with the 3 bolts per side and it was fine.

The weather is starting to get better here, thinking of doing a post trip wrench weekend to keep this thing going for the rest of the year.

First step is to air the tires up, it's still got trail PSI

I aired up 3 tires today and re bent the front bumper today. Also tried to floor jack the truck with a piece of tube bending the frame back. The ord springs laughed at it.

Drove the truck around Saturday, it’s loose and all over the place.

Moab was hard on it and it’s marking it’s territory bad from the tcase.
