I suppose it would depend. Are you talking about the front spring eye? What are the bushings like that are in there now?

Well, myself personally, i would rather not run a wider bushing as in my own mind, i would think that would allow the spring a greater tendency to want to shift side to side in heavy cornering or side hilling. Whether or not it would is anybodys guess, but thats the way my mind looks at it. So I would rather make up the difference with something solid.

All I got done today, I'm having trouble getting the center pin for the leaf springs to sit into the perch on the passenger side. For some reason It doesn't sit in right. Is this normal?

And It seems the u bolts I bought from ORD are to short.:frown1:

Looking good. Never been so excited to see a 10bolt under the front of a truck. What have you been complaining to me for like 10 years you wanted it to be 4wd? Well your on your way man!

:haha:Soon my friend very soon. It will be nice to see it sitting on 4 wheels even if it has a wicked rake.

lots of times on pumkin side center pin hole got to hog it out as its full of dirt/rust or aftrmarket pin to tight in leaf spring.

I might have to try that, you can see me trying to force it together with a ratchet strap on the boat.:haha:

stop work .

take 5-10 min break AWAY from job .

clear head .

return to work and 98% of the time you figure it out. :thumb:

Yup, I was getting to that point today with slight dehydration and a headache. I just stopped what I was doing and cleaned up. It will always be there tomorrow.:thumb:

I was really looking forward to posting a picture with it on all 4's though.

I'm starting to realize that is the way to go. I'm just glad this isn't a DD so I can take my time on this stuff.

Awesome job so far man. Looking back on it now, would you do it again or would you rather start with a 4x4?

I'll beat my Dad over the head for not buying a 4x4 when he picked this up 20 years ago... But I would have bought it to for the 400 he spent on it...:pimp:

I think I have around 40 hours into the conversion, It Is a lot of work but I'm enjoying it.

Lesson to learn, always test fit your center pin on the axle before installing the springs, to be sure they will fit in the hole. Also leave all your shackle and spring bolts loose so you have more movement in your springs to get everything lined up.

Now you tell me. :haha: Thanks for the tip, and yes I can guarantee it won't happen again.

Now that I think about it, If I put in wider bushings I wonder if it will change the center pin location? I'm still wondering If I should buy the spacer or wider bushings.
