Why did he have so much trouble with the parking brake and why such a high cost?

Well, the way the cables were ran on the 90 frame didnt work correctly with the newer axle (I cant remember which year it is). So he had to cobble together cables and brackets to get it to operate correctly. And that 1000$ is mostly the axle purchase price, and some DIY perches plus u-bolts and such.

I will most likely self etch prime them and paint them with gloss black paint with hardener added.

Get some rattle can urethane black. Then clear it with the clear you have.

You just now gave me the idea of doing the entire frame with urethane black and clearing over it.

I would assume that's the way you would do it.

I was going to use enamel that has had uv protective and hardener added into a can to use. I painted the leafs this way and they came out good.

My Dad just shook his head at that idea, so I think it's a go.


That is why we have build threads so your friends can talk you into things.

That is going to be a job and a half, one of the nuts is broken off inside the cab.

Now is the time to fix that and install new isolators.

Already got them, sitting about 4 feet way on my night stand. My thought was to use a hole saw in the floor board and use a rubber plug over the top.


Any objections?

I wish I could do that, but I cant weld. Although this would give me a learning experience that might be worth it.

perfect opportunity to get into a cheap 110 machine.. rubber plugs gonna be a nightmare..

you could patch the circle hole down the road easy enough too... holesaw a plug with no center hole, and a magnet... easy peezy...

I wouldn't let it slow down your progress.. you can always fix that later..

I have a little campbell hausfeld flux core welder, don't know much about it. KTM probably has more knowledge of it then I do.

A good welder could make that work. Flux is hard to weld thin material. At least for me.
