I'm also thinking these wheels should fit perfect and give plenty of clearance.

I put the 2000 steely, 6 lug style wheels on my 1972 K5. I drilled the centers out with a 3" hole saw and 2" spacers. They drive fine at 60 mph with 33" on them, never went much faster. "steady hands" or a good drill press
 
I wonder if I could punch out a few studs and be able to mount the 8 lug wheels... Reason I say this is I can keep pushing through until I find the parts I need for the 8 lug conversion.
 
Ok, I'm getting tired of this and don't understand why I keep messing this up but the springs are hitting the frame again.

How do you measure the shackle is it bolt hole to bolt hole? I know adding a longer shackle to the front messes with the caster but is it really that bad?


Does anyone want a 82 chevy free to a good home. :angry1:
 
its not only the number of studs but the size of the "circle" the studs make. So, no.

It was mostly a joke. :haha: It's just frustrating, this is my first build of anything 95% of this is my first time doing. :doah:

I had a big goal and finding it hard to accomplish.
 
I know buddy. I was just trying to give you a hard time. :waytogo: I commend your efforts up to this point! I know just how it goes when you try real hard to get something right and then its not.

Well, I'm a fool... I found out why the shackle was hitting the frame, I was using a 4 inch shackle vs the 6 I had calculated. :haha:

The factory shackle is 4 inch and my Diy4x's are 5.5 inches. Not nearly the 6 I had calculated but will confirm.

no weight added angle 73 degrees.

Max up 47 degrees

:woot: Total up travel is 4 inches before the spring is flat and hits the frame. Do you guys think I should purchase "6" inch shackles to dial it in even more?

Here is what I'm thinking about the bumps having them hit the factory spring plates.

They are not completely flat but they have hardly any bevel. Do you guys think this would work? I could grind the tops flat. I'm also thinking about installing a "anti rock" off road sway bay and connecting the heims to the factory bar location.
 
If the springs are hitting the frame still, might be good to try a 6". I thinkt the bumps will work fine on the stock top plates.
 
It's just a smudge barely touching but I think I will go ahead and get them anyway, wouldn't hurt.

No sense to cheap out now...
