By take measurements do you mean from the bottom of the frame or where i want the hoops to start?e from the tube of the axle tube or the shock mount hole? I will be running around a 34x11.50.

Full droop to full stuff if you have both those measurements you can figure everything else out. I do typically measure from frame to axle tube.

But I also tend to take measurements as close to my shock positioning as possible because under flex those measurements change depending on where you measure from.

So pick 2 or 3 spots. Usually where you plan on your bump going, where you plan on your shock going, and where you plan on your limit strap going.

For the full drop do I need to out the leafs back together or can I use the max.stuff and static drop technique?

Sorry, I just got your PM dude!

I can't see any of the pictures cause my work computer is stupid and blocks anything from photobucket etc.

Anyways, like Eric said, static droop is quite different than dynamic. Ultimately, you need to flex the truck out somewhere that isn't inside of your shop. You need to put it in a ditch somewhere that will let you flex the front axle one direction and the rear in the other. I cheat and use heavy equipment to flex mine out :haha:

I can't remember if I've got you on Facebook or not, add me if I don't (Russell Ziegler) and I'll be able to see the pics you've tried to post!

I got 2 floor jacks and a engine hoist to work with. The truck won't be drive able for awhile unfortunately

Thought this was funny and appropriate to post in this thread.

This morning I got woken up to a door knock, my Momma said someone broke the window on my truck. I jumped up tossed on some clothes and ran out side. Look at my windows on the 82 and I'm like they are fine.... Momma says the other truck.

The square lives on. :pimp:

It happens, nothing was stolen and I have glass coverage. Probably just some kid with a chip on his shoulder.

Should be this weekend, I hope to get some metal shape and measurements done.

We will see though, I think I got volunteered into helping someone.

Found some older pics today on my phone, such a transformation already.

I would drive it around the block like this with no coolant for months, :haha:I could get one good rip out of the quadrajet and have to park it before it got to warm. :pimp:

I was able to get some time in on the truck today, I havn't bought any shackles yet so I quickly whipped some ghetto ones up. These are just to "flex" the truck with the axle.

Next I cycled the suspension from left to right and took measurements.

With these measurements I should be able to set the shock, bumps and limiting straps with the help of Eric and other of course. :pimp:

Here is the specs on the shock.

Travel 14"
Extended Length 33.84"
Collapsed Length 19.45"

If I'm reading this correctly with my measurements the shock will be placed ruffly 5 inches above the frame? So much for big tall hoops. :doah:

Hmmm, I wonder what would be the best thing to do. I really wanted those shocks to be up high but not I'm wondering if I should take the easy out.

Function over aesthetics. They need to be mounted where they will work the best.

dis

So with your travel it appears you don't need a shock that is as long as the ones you have, It looks like you have about 10" of differentiation between the 2 sides ( give or take) So with 14" travel shocks I would I would set em so that you are giving yourself about an inch of shock shaft showing on compression and set them just like that being that you will have plenty of shock the other direction.

Where are you going mount the lowers. My shock towers are tall but my shocks are mounted on top of the axle tube. Which I like cause they are completely out of the way. On top of the spring plate is even better. I have broken stuff a couple of times and put dents in my shocks. If they are on top of the plates less stuff for them to hit in the event of a break.
