Maybe a few degrees at best. I will have to think about how to do it, it has been years sense I bent conduit.

Keep in mind that you are limited with how close you can place the bend to the end of the tube. The dies and strap will dictate that minimum distance.

Personally, I'd do almost ANY other option for clearance before I'd put a bend in a link.

What do you suggest Greg? I'm out of ideas.
 
Put the bracket where where Ord designed it to be. Lengthen the links to what you can and run it. The bend is a cop out for doing it right. But has been done. I'm just throwing out options.

Put the bracket back and get to building. IT WILL NEVER BE PERFECT.

We do still have the other version of the frame brackets, they are really intended for rock crawling type applications. Better link clearance but they have more roll steer, for your use I'd stick with the brackets you have.
 
Or just move the brackets forward enough so the links you already have will work. Sure, you'll have to brace the brackets because of the curve of the frame, but that wouldn't be hard. Probably be quicker, too.
 
I think the main fly in that ointment is having to drill 4 more holes. And with the longer links the axle doesn't move as far rearward during up travel.
 
Didn't he say the longer links only took off 3/8" of movement? Is that even worth it?
 
I think he said it limits it an inch of up travel, and makes it where the axle only moves 3/8 reward during up travel vs the one inch reward with the short links.

Kind of, the axle moves 3/8 less then before so the extra length isn't doing much. I'm going to move the bracket forward back to where it was and play with link length with the PVC pipe. I'll find out what works and be done with it.

No way I can get it perfect I'll get it to where it works and be done. BB14 is coming way to fast and I don't want to take the Malibu.

Just went through your thread, how did the hoops turn out? I see you went a little different then what ORD sends out. Do you happen to have any more pics?

I would like to avoid moving the box forward. I would assume having the axle to far forward( not being inline with the pitman arm) it would put a bind on it pretty bad.
 
I followed what ORD had step by step with the only difference moving the axle and steering box a little forward. Besides that, I can't think of anything really different?

The hoops came out great. I'll be at the shop tomorrow evening, so I can get some updated pics for you. It was close to being driven last June, but I bought a piece of commercial property, new house, got married, worked on new house before moving in, and working on old house for sale. To say the last 9 months have been crazy is an understatement :-) Now that things are calming down a bit, I hope to get it driving soon!!

Meant by the hoops being different, everything else seems to be the same. I would say this is above average project not for a beginner like myself.

Would it be possible to get a eye to eye measurement on the links? Thank you very much.
