Fill the transfer case he is saying till it starts to run out of the case. Then you can stick finger or q tip in bent to see if it is 100% full.

I have to ask, are you sure that the rear differential is fine?

I know that it's difficult to tell from sounds, but that makes me think of gears skipping and the sound gets played in the driveshaft as well.

And I wouldn't think that when it had the gov-lock, that it would cause the axle to try to lock up while going straight, without something getting into the pinion.

And that video seems like all you did was put it in drive, to get the noise.

Jacked up the rear it spins fine. yes you are correct drive makes the noise. Reverse, neutral and first are fine. 2nd gear it make noise.

But you couldn't have been in 2nd in that video. It didn't move forward and upshift. Maybe I am not understanding something. ???

Can you select 2nd from a dead stop?

I do know that sometimes junk will spin nice with no load, then make noise with a load on it.

I topped off the trans fluid was a bit low nothing scary. 1st gear is completely fine when selected no problems acts like it should. When it up shifts it makes noise.

I'm not taking the truck with me to spread my dad's ashes and I'm calling off moab.
