No, I don't have very much info. I stopped messing with it doesn't the time being.
Put T-case in Nuetral, drive the transmission through all gears. If it makes noise it's in the Trans or possibly a bearing in the input of the Transfercase. Otherwise if it's quiet then it's either in the rear end, front end or the output side of the transfer case.

Just remember to shut the truck off before putting shifter in park after this test. I think all of this has been said already but this is a 2 minute diagnosis that will either confirm or help with your thinking.

What I don't get is then why does 1st gear work fine?
 
Because Rev. and 1st are on the same shaft.

Just go do it and stop all this wondering and question. Just dont put it in park or reverse with out shitting it off first. With the transfer case in N nothing will stop it from spinning.

Still does the noise when the case is in neutral.

I don't have a lot of time to mess with this until next week.

The boat is my main concern. I will be painting it tomorrow night and maybe wiring it. We are hitting the lake saturday.
