Steel braided line broke at the hydraulic crimp. Had to dump 5 quarts into the trans to keep it moving. I hope I didn't damage the trans, it did get to 220 degrees.

Meh, the trans is fine it's the hydraulic crimp that failed on the steel braided line.

Big question is, what's the upgrade from this?

Probably the nutsack that crimped it. That's usually the problem if the failure is at the crimp. Go to a reputable hydraulic shop and get a new hose made. I used to use Napa for general purpose hoses and the local CAT parts store for the important stuff.

Big one in the back and little one inside.

I have actually looked into a surpression system.

Just going to have like 4 nozzles point directly at the transmission?

I would do a solid line, any kind it can't fail like this
Hard lines crack. No 100% fail safe.
Connections fail.
Fix it, have a good shop do and don't worry about it. It shouldn't fail again.
Parker hose is another national chain that can set you up.

Mostly in the engine compartment, maybe inside. If I went hard lines it would have to be custom made and braided line would be much easier. This time around I would route them a bit differently and secure them a lot better.

Yeah having a hydraulic line flopping around hanging off the crimp will also allow it to flex at that point and weaken.
