Hmmm wonder how that happened, has always been like that.
Mine is bent exactly the same way and my plow truck is bent there too. People see this nice large hole in the crossmember and think its a good location to put a hook or a chain through to tow or pull from.

You Know I thought but this all day and can only come up with one thing. When we were kids dad pulled a tree out with the truck and we never had recovery points or a tow hitch...

Ok, now that I'm back from KOH. should I try and replace the cross member or will it still be usable for the tank straps?

Ok serious question here, I have been debating about the 30 gallon blazer tank for some time vs the 20 gallon long bed tank.

With some math I'm only gaining about 110 miles between fill ups with the extra 10 gallons. For as much as I drive the truck doesn't it make sense to just keep the tank I have now? For instance sense August the truck has only been driven 900 miles.

It's less work, money and isn't down for as long. But if I do the swap it puts more weight over the rear axle which will help with suspension, less fill ups...

The only time I ever had trouble when I only had 1 tank in the crew cab was doing snow bashing. A long day of busting drifts drank a lot of gas.

My troubles with the saddle tank was hitting the bottom of it and when fuel level was low enough a steep up or down angle would starve the pump. The starvation problem would happen with 1/2 tank.

I unfortunately don't wheel the truck hard enough to get into those situations. Yes I have hit the bottom of the tank, but that was one time. The truck only gets wheeled "hard" in Moab. I'm just not interested in bashing the body up.

I have a single tank in my c30 with a 454/4 speed and it sucks. 10 mpg or less. Constantly needs gas. I'll gladly swap to a bigger tank when I get time/money to do it. I'd do a 50 gal tank on the bed if I found one for a good deal.

But you are out in the boonies. Fewer stations close to you.

There's like 3 in town 6 miles or so away. But it does use to gas just to drive over there to get more gas. Ideally I'd like to have bulk gas and diesel at the house for "farm" use. Going to the mountains for firewood or anything else burns the most gas. I could also really use a 5 speed swap.

I didn't think about my c10. I do get annoyed having to get gas frequently when I daily drive it.

This is a weekend warrior and not a daily so it doesn't bother me. As of right now I go straight to the gas station almost everytime I drive it cause I don't remember where I leave it at. Gas gauge doesn't work, need to drop the tank.

Double post cause it might get more thoughts here...

Started messing with line pressure, how firm do you guys like the shifts? With the way the trans is built it can handle 250psi but I don't want to go that high...

I need to get a psi sensor on it but I gave it a little more because it felt lazy.... and cause race truck.

I like a very firm shift. Can't remember what pressure I have mine set for. I feel like it was low 200's.
