I’m 95% sure the duramax is going :( if I want a bigger engine it will either get a big ls or big block. That’s plenty for this truck and what it’s meant for.

Got the crossmember all fixed up and notched for the drive shaft. It took a long time because I can’t tig weld. I tried and holy smokes that’s an art!!

I see effective gas coverage, indications of good heat input (so hopefully the penetration you were looking for), and a very decent bead profile. Not bad for "can't!"

The welds on the cross member were my buddy's, mine were the "ones" below it. For never holding a torch or turning a machine on it was interesting and very fun.

Well the dmax is officially going, it’s locked up. :doah:

I got a socket for the crank and it turned a little and it’s stuck. Think I’m going to pull the glow plugs and put some marvel mystery oil in it and send it on its way.

Well time to get off my butt, a wheeling trip is planned and I can’t pass up the free place to stay.

Over the weekend I bought one of those soft topper.com canvas foldable tops, it even came with a kayak rack but I doubt I’ll use it. Going to need different clamps so I can go around the tool box.

I have been thinking the plasti dip “paint job” is far over due. Thinking about trying to shoot it with single stage. Should I go back to the original color or continue with the dark blue metallic?
