1983 K10, Shannons truck. ***UPDATE POST #418***

I doubt anyone has an all original truck anymore. If they do they are the only owner.

I built my multi year.... with type age of these trucks does it really even matter??

Some trucks are definitely more original than others. When I got my blue truck, it very closely resembled its original stock configuration (though broken and worn parts had been replaced, of course). Aside from replacing the bed & intake manifold, I have kept it in this nearly-stock condition. It's still close enough that I could fairly easily un-swap the bed & manifold and have the same configuration that my friends bought 30 years ago.

OTOH, The Suburban has fingerprints all over it. Crummy paint. Bad engine swap. Fuel system mods. T-case has wrong speedo gear. I swapped the axles & added a zero-rate. Tranny hasn't ever worked properly. It would take a lot of work to restore it to it's original configuration. It has permanently joined the underworld. ;)

mostly the same other than true civilan diesel got firewall sound deadner and plastic cover bolted to the engine bay fire wall.

Well, call me spoiled! I thought that the sound-deadening insulation and plastic cover were standard equipment. Didn't realize I was in the special category. :dunno:

Made some cool brushed SS brackets at work today.

What grade of stainless? I assume one of the food grades based on your work.
Do you get free burn table time and free scrap? Or did you have you pay your company?

As for intakes, I shoved a bunch of them up in the loft of my milk barn, so I haven't got up there to see what I have.

No idea. I took the print out to the laser and said I need a few of them out of ss 18 ga, and they showed an hour later on my desk

Back on track.

It's all better now. I'll have her work on getting the shroud in tomorrow. Gonna be tricky with the body lift I'm thinking...

I sure hope its a 2 piece. Then at least I could make a spacer of some sort if need be...

Its at her house, it never had one on it before.

If she wasn't broke id have her buy an electric fan and wouldn't even bother.

Most gm ones are two piece. ( that I have seen) some run a staple or metal clip to hold them together. Pull the clips, and space it out. I found some 1/2" aluminum tube at ace hardware I used to cut spacers. Then I added some aluminum sheetmetal to fill the gap. Wasn't the best, or the worst. But it worked.

Yup, that's what I had in mind, then maybe a way to enclose the fan more on the back, close up the now "obround" opening.

Without making it too ghettolicious....

I wouldn't go crazy, you will have improved it 1000% from what she had. I think it's time to move to the next project:popcorn:
