1983 K5 trail truck/dd/ R.I.P. 03/14/18

Finally re-upped my membership, mostly so I could see the pics of what you've done to your truck. :wink1: looks good! I really like the orange. I don't much care for the color of my truck, but can't address it any time soon. You're tempting me, though... :waytogo:

It needs a few more coats tho, I wish I had a shop were I could have made a paint booth and done it right with real paint. I got the go ahead from the wife to start looking for a d60 so that is next.

It still looks good. I've painted several trucks out in the yard and each time, I've always wished I were in a paint booth. You don't notice the little breezes that come along every 30 seconds until you start trying to paint outside. Plus little bugs just looooove wet paint. I painted my truck outside last February, but we had an early spring and pollen started getting on the wet paint before it could dry.

No real updates on the blazer but I did get bored the other day and made a new shift knob out of a piston I had laying around. And I put the hardtop back on for winter.

Not alot to update. I got the engo winch mounted and wired, but I haven't had a chance to use it yet. I also got a 10 bolt front to replace my broken D44. I have driven it down the coast to work a couple of times but no wheeling lately.

Blazer's still looking good. I'm digging that winch mount. Oh and that little guy looks right at home sitting on the wheel. Won't be long til he's asking "Dad when can we go wheeling in the orange Blazer?"

So after some talking with the boss I'm going to be changing some stuff on the k5. For starts its getting an interior put back in. I think I'm going with new vinal in the front with some insulation to quiet it up some inside. Come tax return season I'm thinking of new suspension seats in the front with a matching bench in the back.

Some things I've been working on is getting the leaks sealed up.

The transfer case has always dripped and driving home the other day the adapter started leaking bad so I'm resealing that up and I broke 2 bolts off in the yoke so I ordered a new one thats drilled out for u bolts.

Sounds like a plan. Maybe she'll give you a raise next year.

My t-case leaks from around the adapter too. It's the front seal for the case that needs replacing.

That front seal isnt too bad to replace. Grab a couple paint can openers (cuz you will break at leaat one lol). Chip the brittle rubber out and get the end of the opener behind the metal part of the seal. Channel locks on the opener and a hammer. Work your way around it, curse many times, throw the channel locks, drink a beer, go back and it will come out :D

Haha I get all the funds I need for the blazer cause the wife loves that truck :D. Yeah I need to check that seal before I put the case back in tomarrow.
