1984 K30 "C4" Truggy on Rockwells

really like the Truck. Good to see another Idaho guy. My Fiance was Born in Emmett.

not to derail, but I share the LS swap opinion, I have a really good 5.3 core that was free, but should be rebuilt in my opinion. And I priced out what It really cost to swap it in and shit wasn't free or cheap.

We love Emmett!

Yeah, that's the other thing is sure you can probably still pick up a 5.3 for a couple hundred bucks, but 9 times outta 10 that things needs a full rebuild cause of how many miles are on them. So add that to the expense on top of the other items to get the motor in there and running...and now it's not a cheap option at all. Or, you could take your old school small block and spend that money on go fast goodies and you got something that possibly has more power than the LS. Each has their place, I just feel like people jump to quick to the LS bandwagon when there are lots of awesome options that are sometimes even cheaper. Just depends on the overall use of the rig

The LS swap debate/discussions remind me of the 1-ton swap debates/discussions that used to occur here on CK5 back when I first joined. It's almost all the exact same arguments.

We wouldn't have to derail this thread if you would make a thread for the C10.

Or the diesel vs gas debates :D

I'm not starting a build thread on that one...at least not right now. I probably won't really touch it until maybe later this year, so not really anything to post on it yet

I'm pretty sure we've just posted a couple pages worth about it in this thread already....

Got the rear shock mounts done. With the bracing on the backside I added (and the fact that it’s leaf sprung so these won’t see that much stress like a coilover), they should hold up good. Was a good happy/medium to make sure the shocks had good travel. I’ll probably eventually do some bump stops off the frame just below the shock mounts too. Pretty happy with how it turned out9596869D-3CDF-4451-A763-BA9C731CB7B6.jpeg45DC9E84-E3DC-4956-AF83-445417D77654.jpeg3D54E66A-B4A4-4991-841E-F430DC512FD4.jpeg175864B9-79F8-433D-92B0-4D4BFF889E2C.jpegACABCEC5-EB52-41A0-AFE9-1215418D3065.jpegE18FC650-E650-4A6C-9498-C8D53D493065.jpeg

What size tube did you use for the sliders on the cab?

What size tube did you use for the sliders on the cab?

Its 2x6 .120 wall square tubing that I welded to the cab after cutting the rockers off. I then used some round tubing and did kickers from the square tubing to the frame. I used 2x6 cause I wanted some space to use these sliders as the base for the exo cage. You could use 2x4 and it would work just fine

I thought it was 2x6 but then I couldn't decide if I was making an assumption or if you had posted that.
