1987 V20 Suburban 350TBI/SM465

Appears to be the shaft. But it might have been the o ring on the hose at fitting, Is hard to pin point.

Might have been miss boxed?? You may have to take the old one in and compare before you buy. Defiantly have the old one when take the new back so you can show them.
what brand is that anyway.

They don’t actually keep them in stock unfortunately. They had it same day shipped from another store. Small town life.

I’ll return it tomorrow. I ordered one from RockAuto that will be here Wednesday. Hopefully it’s right

yes that is not the part you got. take it back if you can wait for them to get you another. If you can't then swapping the reservoir is your best option.

1 more to check when you compare pumps is the fitting for the high pressure hose. Yours is o ring older units use inverted flare. Make sure you get what you need.

I found one in the next town over! I didn’t see your message about the high pressure line but I believe this one came with the o rings. And the bracket fits. I had ordered one from rock auto for twice the price but was able to cancel it

Glad you found one.

Inspect the o ring on the high pressure hose. Or better replace the o ring. Or both hose and o ring

Got it swapped in with a new o ring. Turns really easy and everything. There was oil in the pulleys and belts. I cleaned it off as best I could but there was still some cast off when I started it. I’m let it burn off before I check it again but it’s looking good

Wes I’m going to owe you a bunch of beer for all your help along the way

Well she did it again. This time I’m low on fuel (1/8th tank) and parked on and incline with the ass end lower. If I power on the fuel pump over and over with out cranking and then try cranking it fires up and sputters out. With starting fluid it fires up but sputters out if I stop spraying. Starting to look like a fuel issue I guess

Have you added fuel. Gauge maybe off and you are below the pickup. Plus at that level is probably a bit of water mixed in

Thats good to know.

At this point, I'm just wanting to replace everything from the tank all the way to the injectors. Any benefit to having the fuel pump outside the tank instead of inside?

No the best place for an electric pump is in the tank, near the bottom. Outside the tank has location problems. Electric fuel pumps push, they are not good suckers.

So I’m going to order the tank and pump. Are there other pieces in there that I should replace too? Some sort of screen? fuel level sensor?

yes the pick up/sender. it should come with a new screen/sock on tube.

this a picture of mine. yours will different but similar. Make sure you get correct one for size tank you ordered.
