I bought a set of chinese knockoff corvette wheels for my camaro - was reasonably priced. they do have sales occasionally

The set I had were VERY "bendy". They didn't seem as sturdy as the Olds 5 slot or factory Camaro wheels I had.

Hmm, haven't heard of anyone else having problems. Few talked about blemishes when they showed up. I don't have a ton of miles on mine, but no problems so far. Hope I dont get any.. lol

I was considering a set of the 17" GTA knock-offs. I love how they look and the 17 has pretty good tire selection right now.

I've always thought the GTA wheels look fantastic on an RS.

Kleen Strip makes an aerosol aircraft stripper that takes the factory clearcoat right off of aluminum wheels. Then all that's needed is to clean them up with some aluminum polish on the machined face.

Here's a before/during/after with polished wheels. Machined wheels are much easier. But just getting the clearcoat off took only 15-20min per wheel.

I thought about a set of the Hawks 17" IROC style wheels too. Have to see what I can find though.

I HATE chrome reproduction IROC-Z28 wheels, but I equally love the Hawk's 17" replicas.

I did find a shop in Richmond that will restore my 16s. Might go that way but it'll be a little while.

My brake parts arrived yesterday while Blondie and I were trail riding on the quads. Today the wife cleaned up the Camaro after breakfast so we pulled the tees out and went for a cruise. Gotta change those brake parts this week and get it fixed. You can tell that hose is bad when you hit the brakes. It pulls hard right.

The tires are smoothing out some but I'm not holding my breath on them making it. I've found a set of OE 15" 5 spikes for $100. I'm gonna go check them out and see if they are in good shape.

On a semi-related note, the factory grill that crumbling just randomly dropped a piece in the yard this evening.

The base 1989 IROC-Z28 engine was the same LO3 that was optional in the '89 base model RS Camaro.

If I didn't have to have a license plate I would run that style. Having the lettering covered kinda ruins it for me.

Nope. Originally, IROC was just an upgrade to a Z28 (1985-1987). The base IROC-Z28 engine was the carbureted 305 LG4 from 1985-1987, the TBI 305 LO3 in 1988 and 1989, and the TPI 305 LB9 in 1990. The only year all IROC-Z28's were TPI was 1990, and all 1990 IROC-Z28's were built in 1989, so very limited production. All 1991-1992 Z28's are TPI.

Mag and aluminum wheel polish on a terry cloth will do wonders for the front parking lights. Doctoring them up along with replacing the grille will really help out the looks.

Front plates ruin the look of many cars. Can you get away with just sticking it in the lower corner of the windshield? That's what I've always done.
