1989 Crew Cab Tow Rig Build

I once new a guy that had a big pavement pounder he built. '79 F600/F350 conglomeration. On 44s with Dana 60 rear and Dana 44 front with like 3.55 gears and an anemic ford industrial engine and Allison auto. Thing would drop to like 2nd gear and super slow on the tiniest hill. But it looked cool and the chics loved it when we would all pile in and take it to the bar or the dunes. LOL

Took it for its first small drive to the end of my street...I dont have the pedal mounted yet (it seems like I’ll need to do the 6.5 diesel pedal, so if anyone has any experience with that, please chime in), so i was just holding the pedal in my lap while driving it, haha. So far things seem pretty good, just a bunch of small things to tighten up. I also installed the hood (no pic) and zip tied up some wires and such. Getting closer to actually driving it

So, like I mentioned above, it looks like the DBW pedal that Tilden gave me out of the 2005 donor truck is not going to work at all...its really big and will not fit up under the dash at all. So looking at other options. For anyone familiar with LS DBW swaps, what have you guys used? It looks like different years and model trucks have different "size" pedal assemblies...is there a year that seemed to work better on the square bodies than others? My gut is telling me to get a late 90's 6.5 diesel pedal as they bolt directly in and have the connector for DBW, but from my reading there needs to be some wires switched around on the connector to match up correctly with the diesel pedal and work properly...but I can't seem to find someone who actually shows what wires need to be swapped to what. Anyone have some insight on what they used? Tag people here that might be able to give some info. Thanks!

Pretty sure the 2001-2002 3500HD with a 15,000 gvwr and the 8.1 used the same pedal assembly as the 6.5 turbo diesel. This is what the 6.5 one looks like.

Thanks for the info...after more research it looks like the one I have is an “adjustable” version of the DBW pedal (see pic below) and is much larger. Apparently there are other versions that are much smaller and should fit better under the dash of my truck. Found a guy local who has a normal version that is fine trading me, so gonna go pick that up this afternoon
