I haven't even touched it other than moving it over to the new shop. Been too busy with all the new house stuff and working on the tcase swap in the K5, added to that been working out details on the new-to-me Dodge Cummins I bought too...so sadly no, I haven't done anything. And it may be that way for the next couple of months. I'm contemplating pulling the motor back out and tearing it down and doing a rebuild on it (and if that's the case, may put some go fast goodies in it), or just buying a whole new 8.1 to bolt in and keep the one in the truck now as a spare for parts and stuff like that...who knows what I decide to do, either way, probably won't happen anytime soon with all the other stuff I have going on right now.
But I will never, ever get rid of this truck...every time I look at it, it puts a smile on my face, and it will eventually get up and running, but luckily this is not a truck that I need to depend on for anything (that's how I wanted it) so it doesn't matter if it sits for a while. But in all honestly, once its running, and some paint, and maybe a rear bumper, that's all I really wanted this truck to be...so when I think about it, I've only had the truck for less than 1.5 years, and with what I've done on this build, I'm not too worried that its not running yet...maybe this fall/winter I'll really start getting after it again, we shall see
Well, with everyone seeming to lose interest and selling all the cool projects, I am glad to hear this one will never leave. That's comfort in itself LOL.
I've never understood the build something and then sell it stuff...never been my cup of tea. I like to enjoy the rigs I build for a long time and continue to mess with them and make them my own...seems like the guys who build and sell a lot are doing a lot more building and not having enough fun with them....just my $0.02 though
Some people get more enjoyment in the planning and building process. Once it's built (or sometimes not) they're already deep mentally into the next build.

That's me. I think the build is the best part. I think I would rather build then anything else.
My last truck wasn't cool and hard to fit a family of 4 into two seats. I will probably never sell my current project which I think is pretty cool.
I totally understand having to rebuild in a different platform to accommodate the growing family. And I understand that guys like Russell know their rigs, and know when they are tired and need to move on.
Just read through the whole thing and what a cool buildup! There's a farmer down the road with a crew cab dually i've been thinking about seeing if he would sell.

My wife and I looked at a few houses out in Kuna, I liked it out there...we are pretty happy with Emmett though...awesome little quite town! Where did you grow up in CO?
I work in downtown Boise and people think I'm nuts driving all the way in from Emmett...but what people don't realize is that I was 45 min to an hour one way in CO to go to work, but I was sitting in traffic the whole time. Now its 40 min of doing 50-70 mph the whole way....I'll take that any day of the week! Lets just say we have not regretted our decision to move out here one bit so far
Yep longer drive with no traffic is definitely better. They have been doing construction on my drive to work and the only alternative is a long way out and around. I get pisssed sitting there creeping along even though it's only a 5-10 min delay.
We looked at Emmett and Horsehoe Bend as well. Absolutely loved it there but the teenage daughter would have killed us for going so remote. Kuna was a good compromise. Next couple years we are going to start looking for property out that way and move when the kiddo finishes high school. I want some acreage and a shop badly!
I grew up in the Thornton/Broomfield area. Left for a few years to go Navy and when I moved back it just wasn't the same place I grew up with. We made it four years before we had to get out of there. Most of my family was already gone and my wife is from South Africa so no family to hold us back.
We laugh at the way people view driving here. The wife used to take over an hour to go from Broomfield to Boulder one way (17 miles) and here that can be done in 15 minutes. Yet our friends in Garden Valley won't come this way because we are considered "out there".

Hahahaha...literally everything you just said I have said about 500 times! I grew up in Parker, left for college and church stuff, and then when we moved back, it was the same feeling. Just wasn't the same place I remember growing up at. Sucks cause it's such a cool state, but it's like a mini LA now...not my style.
You live "Out There" huh, bahaha, so funny. I get that from everyone around here. They look at me like I'm nuts that we bought a house in Emmett and both my wife and I work in Boise...I guess it's a matter of perspective is all. I don't mind the drive one bit!

As long as my work doesn't screw me I should be coming your way in the middle of aug. My wife's nephew will be graduating from lineman school.
South of Denver used to be one of my favorite places, especially Castle Rock but it's grown so much and gotten so expensive! Mini LA just like you said.

We lived in Castle Rock and sold the house so quick before moving out here in December, it wasn't even funny. The traffic in that town got horrific before we moved (my oldest brother still lives there) and he said it's out of control right now. I'll take my setup any day of the week (and a heck of a lot cheaper than CO too, haha).

Some snow, but not near what CO sees. This last winter was the worst on record for the last 30 years as far as snow accumulation, and to be honest, felt like a normal spring time snow storm in CO to me, haha. But doesn't do that very often. Usually just some dustings, especially in and around Boise
