1989 Diesel Jimmy. What do we have here hmmmm

I got a sweet aluminum water pump for $40 off rock auto. It's like 600lbs lighter then the stock one. I found the regular ones were the same price so I opted for light weight go fast.

Yeah, I think you're stretching the dollars pretty thin to get all that for $400. It will be interesting to see how close you come.

This conversation has reminded me that I still have 2 more of those filter bases (and 17 cartridges) sitting in a box. I'd be willing to give you one if it would be useful to ya. I plan to put one on the CUCV (eventually), but I don't have an immediate use for the 3rd one. Any interest?

Yah it ain't gonna get all done for 400.

Heck yah on the filter base man that would be awesome. Save me some now. I will definitely get you back.

Well thermostat. AC delco 131-91, AC Delco water pump 252-717, and fel pro gasket set 260-1315 are on their way.

Thank you gift cards. My wife is gonna let me use her Christmas gift card for the head bolts. So those will get ordered tonight

That the right thermostat? I remember having a hell of a time as everyone tried to sell me the SBC one.

There is a thread on diesel place that lists a bunch of part numbers the thermostat is a 180° for a single thermostat 6.5. The water pump is the medium flow like 130 gph vs the 160 gph one.

All the checking I have done says they are right. I'm putting a new fan clutch on the list for later. Plus a duramax fan blade.

That should keep this thing cool.

Fuel Filter housing (and cartridge) are on their way to you. Sort of. They've left my parts pile and made it all the way to my kitchen table. :haha:

Should get them sent out in the next couple of days. Once I track down a box and the appropriate fittings. :thumb:

I found a place where guys recommended the hv water pump and other places they think it is horrible. Be careful what you gleen from the diesel page. I feel some of the stuff they push is questionable or is pushed because they get kick back. I honestly think most of the stud girddle stuff is a joke.

The pump is I guess considered the medium flow one. I have read that guys think the high flow one does nothing at all.

It seems generally agreed its a good pick for a 6.2 plus I need it for the serpentine system.

The other water pump was over 150. This one was around 60. Cheaper at rock auto but I don't have a gift card to rock auto.

There is a different thermostat too but generally it seems like everyone likes this one.

I still have one more trailer load from my parents. On the route back there is an 8% grade around 3 miles long. Problem the grade starts in town. Speed limit raises about a hundred yards up the hill.

I wanna pull that hill and keep my temp below 200
