1990 K5 Build ( Ol' Blue ) : Rocker rust...

Yep, a good day for sure. Once Nick and I found some security torx bits getting the hard top off was almost a breeze. The seat belt retractors in the hardtop were a metric bitch...

Really cool riding around in a K5 with the top off again. That's been quite a while for me!

Lol you would t have had much fun without a top on here! Woke up to about 4" of snow today.

They're actually pretty rough, bondo cracks, rust at the bottom inside etc. They look way better in pics than they are. Nick also doesn't like or want the power mirrors and the doors I gave him have the regular mirrors...as well as being rust free and straight.

Nick is over again and we're adjusting the passenger door, as well as his hood and fenders. Lots of gap issues and sloppy shimming. Things are a lot more dialed in now.

Yeah but 35s & 4.10s are better

No doubt!

I have had a k5 and and a k10 with 35s and 373s that I didn't think where too bad for gearing, both of them had A 465 trans. The K5 had a 350 and the K10 I swaped a 454 in to it.

Actually the K5 kind of sucked! But the BB K10 was awesome! :haha:

I'm sure 410s would have be way better, But that's what I had.

If I find some cheep 315/75/ 16 s I will put them on my 77 with the 373s it has now and I'm sure I will be happy. :burnout:

Mah, it's not that bad. The 465 helps a lot. The 3.73 will help that fuel mileage to Moab :deal:

Yea its spinning about 2600 rpm doing 65 mph. 400 ish km per tank. So just over a thousand bucks in gas to go down. Ill be camping and drinking weiner water soup for lunch and dinner. @max 02 :haha:

Downhill all the way home. That might afford you at least one hot dog
:dunno:

school work is getting intense and time to wrench is getting less and less. But after school today i got the drivers side door disassembled, and removed. Got the harness out and swapped it over to the new door. Like the other one it needed adjustments that i havent quite gotten perfect yet. It still sitting a bit low for now. the top fender adjustment bolt inside the hood by the windhsield had 3 horshoe washers on it and the lower adjustment bolt located under the truck had none... So i put a shim up top and a shim down below. Someone sure did fug with all this stuff at some point... image.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpegimage.jpeg

I have to finish alignment, get the pannels in on the inside, And send the mirrors off. Then the doors can be checked off my list. Axle shims next.

Looks like it's lined up not bad? Did you re-bush the hinges?

so you pulled two shims from up top? Does the hood still open properly or did that change again?

I havent tried the hood yet, i figured id get the door the best i can and then mess with the hood. The door is sitting low. I am going to try and jack it up like we did, just didnt have any wood laying around.zz No i didnt rebush the hinges. Im kinda of overhwlemed right now with the amount of crap i wanna get done in the next few weeks. T minus 6 weeks until i move. Id rather tackle that little rust spot i think.
