1990 K5 Build ( Ol' Blue ) : Rocker rust...

Hahaha yea. Im loving it. Going wheeling up to tofino this week

Did some more cool trail finding on the island. I love that theres days worth of trails within 35 mins from my house. We discovered this quarry after about 3 hours of some fun.

The guys i met up with on the last trip, were a bit concearned about my size but i did every obstacle, some that were definitely fun to do. These guys didn't mind at all, just said some places become narrow so watch for more pin striping!

Some cool hill climbs and nice lookouts this time out.. Have to figure out how To edit go pro footage and post to the youtube. Dam inter web !

You'll hear about "your size" from every Jeep homo you wheel with there. I got so sick of hearing it, then pulling said idiots out or over half the trail.

I like wheeling, but not with Jeep guys.

Yea the first bunch i went with were way worse than these guys. They were cool to wheel with actually. I wasn't the smallest vehicle this time around which was good. I Do think the axle width isn't much different than the jeep. The jeep body is just tucked in and then they have those big fender flares.

Yea i am staying away from jeep clubs because i know most have that attitude from what I've heard.

I never had any trouble with the Toyota crowd... but I was one of them. :haha:

Great pics! The island is cool!
You have to go to Carmana Valley!

Love that you have the sm465 in your 1990,would really like to change mine to that, won't happen till the 700r4 goes tits up though

I definitely do consider myself lucky, When i was looking for k5s thats what i set my search around really. I am thankful for the guy who ordered mine with the power windows, and m465. Don't see too many 90s with the 4 spd in them. I love it wheeling..

So its out of province inspection time...
The list is
Windshield ( knew that would be one considering the dart board rings of rock cracks in it )
Dome light
Rear axle seal
Horn..

Windshield is an easy one. There is a mobile service here who will do it for 200 bucks give or take including labour. ( the mechanic referred me to them when he did the inspection )

The dome light, Thought it was a burnt out bulb but its not so that is still a mystery to me.. ( wiring is NOT my thing...)
its also not the ground switch activated by the door because it still doesn't work when i mess around with the switch and get it working...

Rear axle seal... its a little bit dark around the axle housing where it mounts to the brake assembly and backing plate... LIKE REALLY!? So i purchased a new axle seal and I'm hoping it'll be easy enough to fix... Im right in thinking i must remove the pin, c clip, and then slide the axle out on that side and then replace?

Horn... now this one is the real bugger... It always worked and even when me and rene installed it we checked it, i even used it a few time after that. Now i was travelling down a real bad dirt road that was full of bumps and it seems something must have wiggled loose. A ground id think since some things have been working weird ever since. When the door is closed and the ground switch is activated i can hear something that is almost like a high speed rattle when i apply the horn and the odd time you can hear a faint horn sound.... when the door is open the horn does nothing.. now the noise appears to be coming from the lower dash area located under the stereo.. The entire dash is apart right now and i can't seem to find anything...

ID LOVE TO FIND THE GUY who smoked a bunch of meth and wired this truck thinking he knew what he was doing... I am very tempted to buy a interior wiring harness at this point and re do the entire dash of the truck... Now with that being said i have found some that PAINLESS makes but haven't seen or read anything on here about them.. Does anyone have any experience with these, Id love to go to a junkyard and find one myself, but i need one for power doors and windows and those aren't the easiest to come by in a K5 around these parts of canada... Also not sure if I'm even capable of wiring a new harness in and how hard it may be... I really can't afford to be making steps backwards at this point..

ANY help or even slight ideas would be great at this point...

Thanks!

I can also go take pictures of anything that would help the description be better!

i would change the relay for the horn but I'm not sure where it is located, considering its worth like 5 bucks it costs for one from my research

I have only installed one painless harness and it was perfect, all the ends and wires were just right, but this was also on a 1962 corvette, not much to wire in those cars, but painless does have a good reputation

Awesome thanks! I did use them for the hi beam headlight combo and it was a great little kit. Im going to try and find one in a few days if i cant figure this out.

If the relay for the horn is whats high speed clicking.. Does that mean its bad?

Took the relay apart and it appears to be functioning, i guess you can just never hear the clicking since the horn is usually sounding at the same time.. On to chasing wires

Changed the fuses which looked good and cleaned all the electrical connections at the relay...Horn and dome lights work now! Bouncing ideas off yourself through the thread seems to work as well as getting responses sometimes.

If I had the answers you were looking for I would love to help you. Wiring isn't my fav either. Glad you got it figured out :waytogo:

No worries, electrical is hard enough for me to figure out even with the diagrams infront of me when things are stock... but this interior harness is far from that... Its a rats nest of bullshit in there. After 7 hours of ripping things apart and chasing wires, i have gotten two things crossed off the list. Windshield is being done in my driveway on monday from a mobile service company for 230 bucks. which is a good price around here, plus i can watch them work hahaha, i want my A pillars to stay in the good shape they are!

Im far from dead.. moving to a new city with no connections is apparently just as hard as it was 4 years ago when i did the same thing. Worst part is that i have no space to wrench on my truck and i am half ass parked on a driveway and constantly have the neighbour bitching because I'm over the line... better yet he has 1 driveway on either side of his house and still uses the one near me most of the time... probably just so he can listen to himself bitch. Id love to just do an axle swap and clutter his driveway with parts..:flipoff3:

Im still looking for a job and a place of my own so i can start wrenching on this thing.
I want to:
Find some 35's, since theres a bunch of stock yotas around here that would love the 33 inch tires i have because they are too cheap for a lift..
Trim fenders for clearance.
Cut out of some rear quarters from a junk yard and patch mine
Rock sliders.
A bomb front bumper and winch..

So either i start cooking up that walter white... or i find a job..
Also trying to save up for my class 1 license right now...

Soooo. basically I'm going to have to start hooking...
