Yea the joys of living alone.. but the reality of me living alone is that no one used it all.. couldnt even justify keeping it for others. Oh well BB money is never a bad thing! I'm really itching to go.

I got some cutting done after school today. Cut out the drivers side foot area and the rear corner... This side was so bad i couldnt even undo the bolt on the rear seatbelt mount. The minute i put a wrench on it the whole piece broke and peeled up to the only good steel around.. Scary shit!

Also got my new rear gas tank cover. I still have to find a spare tire carrier. My tail pan is getting worse...:doah:the tailgate is still supported rather well, so it can wait for now..

Tomorrow ill continue the patching.. Hoping to get a good chunk done. The structural needs more work on this side. So it may take me quite a bit longer..:deal:

Not having the TV while I'm sitting on the couch and doing 3.5 hours of homework:deal:, on the first day of trade school... is really nice though. Out of sight, out of mind

Well, that's a refreshing concept for the younger generation.

Remember going to A&P school and working a full time job at Discount Auto Parts to pay for it and have spending cash back in the early 80's.

I did have the advantage of living with my Dad at the time.

Certainly didn't have time or waste my time watching TV.

Good Luck, it will pay off.

Nice work. Take your time.

Id rather have a tool in my hand, than a remote..anyday! I dont have any other 25 yr old friends like me .. Most people my age are concearned with other things.. Or they are cooped up in their garage like i am, and ill never meet them haha.

Thanks im learning so much...Im trying to go slow and take my time. I wish i had more time to complete this.. But i am going yo do the best i can with the limits i have!

Looks good! I think it's awesome that you are tackling this! I always had it in my head that you had to have all these fancy tools and know how to take on these kinds of jobs until I did what you are doin find just dug in! Best way to learn! Keep it up!

Don't get to far ahead of yourself, especially in the areas of cab supports

what do you mean? like in terms of cutting away too much floor at once? the bottoms of the cab supports were rotted out. so i had to cut and patch them. id love to keep stripping stuff down and try and get the repair 100%.. but i only have 6 weeks until i move. so this is being done at quite an accelerated rate compared to what i wish i had time to do..

Nice. Get some! :smirk:

Remember, you have the best Northern limit breaker at your disposal up there.

I think he goes be the name of, Rene... :pimp:

haha, i sure do. I've picked his brain quite a bit about this rust repair.. but its mainly on me to just do it and learn!

I was super nervous about diving into this. I am also sure when the time comes to re do anything in these areas, i will look back and laugh at my work.. Its a super tight weird spot ( the back corner ) i also wish i had some thinner sheet metal about now..

Its funny because i always saw stuff like this done in tv shows.. it was always so pretty. Well with it being my first welding project.. its NOT so pretty haha. but i just want it rust free!

You don't want to take it down to the point of of having a wet noodle and loose your alignments such as your doors to cab, body lines etc.
Your roof and b pillar will help keep your cab straight.

When you repair a cab support you want to support the cab and keep all in original position by whatever means you can.

When I did my 74 full vert I had a hard time getting everything straight due to the extent of rust and being a full vert.

yea it sucks trying to get the grinder in to buff some of the welds or even clean the steel.... a few areas are really tight and annoying. Wishing i had a Dremel tool or something
