1990 K5 - The Dent Side K5

90 K5 Blazer on tons and 37’s
Looking nice man. I really like the hydro assist. I need to do that sometime soon. Glad the snap ring pliers worked out.

Is that the only place you can mount the reservoir? That's right where I have my air compressor mounted.

Looks good!
Thank you!

Thanks dude :saweet:

There were a few options but that spot made the most sense for me. The tricky part is finding a mounting spot for it that allows the feed line to have a constant slope. I was going to weld a piece of metal onto the power steeping bracket to extend it up so I could mount the reservoir there and have it directly above the pump. I got lazy and just burned it in on the core support since there was room. I was also contemplating doing the engine cage now and welding the bracket onto that but decided I didn’t have time before the trip.

Next weekend (June 11th). I’ll be going with some buddies as a Pre-baby party thing

Got back yesterday from the Rubicon. We didn’t make it as far as we wanted to due to one of the rigs breaking. I’ll post this for now and follow up with some highlights once i have time to go through the pictures.

the body definitely has more “character” now ;)

We ran into some issues with the Jeep buggy. He tried to climb a ledge and ended up snapping his lowear link mount in the rear in one of the worst possible spots. We were stuck for about 5 hours trying to fix it enough to get the thing to move safely off the trail. He ended up drilling new holes in the subframe and throwing a bolt through them to get him out. This kind of threw off our plans for the weekend and we didn‘t make it as far as we wanted to.

Here’s some pictures from one of the other guys in the group. Myself and one other rig followed the buggy back to the trailers while the rest of the group hung out at soup bowl.

For the most part, the K5 did great! The only issue I had was my own fault. I was running too low of pressure in the rear being all loaded down with gear and lost an inside bead on the rear on the granite slabs. Less than 15 minutes we were back at it.

The lockers, gearing, and PSC system worked great! I finally feel like I have a wheeler again. Everything worked really well and I couldnt be happier. The ORD sway bar also has a purpose for me even when disconnected, I have it set to hang on the upper mounts when its disconnected in a way that protects the hydraulic lines from being grabbed by the tire. The 13.5” wide Toyo’s really take up a lot of space..

The trail is pretty tight in some places for full bodied rigs. I left with some souvenirs . I grabbed the passenger side door pretty good again too but that was already messed up. Here’s the new additions.

Ouch!

Nice seeing you out there, my rig got the same rash in the same spots...Haha.
Sorry about being rushed when we crossed paths! We were on a mad dash to try and get the buggy off the trail. We had no idea if it was going to make it back without more issues and we were trying to catch up with the rest of the group.
