1991 v3500 - big dumb lifted forever truck

Flippin sweet! You running a dual mass flywheel or just dealing with the noise?

I am a southbend fan for sure. Not gonna change it up. Just running a single disc.
so much badassery
It really is. Thanks!
are they going to have a 3way with a magnum ? ? that would be epic
Well. I dont know how a front driveshaft is going to fit! Might have to. I wanted to run a 1410 CV front but it seriously seems like it will hit the case. This is WAY bigger than I expected.

Right on. One way to kill some of the noise they make is by pulling the shift tower and adding an extra quart of fluid. That’s the only sucky thing about the G56. Without a dual mass flywheel they sound like they’re out of fluid when idling. Maybe you knew that already but it made me feel better about myself to tell share that with you. What year is that out of?

I have a g56 with a single disc SB clutch, I get some throw out bearing noise at idle and some bearing growl when lugging the motor but otherwise it’s pretty quiet. With the original dual mass flywheel there was no noise at all (until it started dying).

I did make the mistake one fluid change of going with a blend of fluids that was supposed to help trans life etc and it got real noisy and harder to shift. I went back to the OE recommended fluid and it’s fine now.

Fyi, that little boot on the shifter is prone to tearing and leaking fluid.

I did a dual disk valair in a 2008 and it was terrible. It sounded like a CAT scraper when it was idling. Lol

Yeah that’s the bearing and floater disc chattering. I didn’t go dual because (mostly) I didn’t need it, the noise and I read they bucked pretty bad when trying to back a trailer slowly.

I do know a little about the g56. I have an 06 dodge with one and I really like it. It swayed me to just get this one. I personally have little to no noise coming from my trans with my southbend single disc and amsoil. It really is unnoticeable.
This trans is a 2014 unit which looks really clean and feels good. For what it's worth, my truck bucks pretty bad with a single disc. I think it's more to do with the 37s than the clutch.

So what tcase do you think you'll use?

You'er going to need to lift the truck more to keep the transmissions belly from dragging the ground. :rotfl:

Lol this trans is huge. Its considerably taller from trans mount to shaft centerline. Probably have to use an 84 and older one ton crossmember. Sold all of mine to sweetk30 lol

I will likely have to redrill the face of the round pattern case to the figure 8 in order to use dodge 29 spline parts rather than that fancy female input from ord.
I amnot a big fan of the coupler but not alot of people have problems with my power level. I think....

So the 205 behind the g56? Oh man, that thing is so big it makes the 205 look inadequate. :rotfl: I didn't realize the 205 round face had enough flat machined surface to accept a figure 8 bolt pattern.

I have a crossmember from a CUCV if you need one.

I really entertained that but I'm committed af to passenger drop with this 70 front.

I might. Good parts arent common lately.

I help a friend of mine swap a LMM/Allison in a 88 crew cab and he wanted to run the 271 but it is too wide. It was hitting the frame. We ended up using a 261 with a front slip eliminator.

Little bit of strategic grinding and a clocking ring helps that

Which is the temp sender for the gauge? Intake or cylinder head?
Just cataloging for parts required for later. Thanks!
