1998 2wd to 4wd, CCLB SAS

This one is about to get interesting. Nice work on the spring hanger/crossmember

Got all the brackets done and got the front cross member in place. Packed bearings and put hubs on axle.

Exhaust pipe shows up tomorrow and new brakes on friday. Shackles, wheel spacers and caps for hubs(seal up the hubs until I get lockouts) should be here first part of next week, then it's go time. If all goes to plan swap will be done next weekend :)

Still looking for transfer case and axle parts(axles, carrier, gears, lockouts) if anyone's getting rid of some

Typical the one I don’t have one of laying around. Good luck!

Let me see what I have for gears and carriers. I may have some 4.10 stuff.

You said you are going to cut out the engine cross member and weld in a 2x4 section correct?

The cross member will be cut out totally, right to the bottom of the motor mounts. Then under the motor mounts will be boxed back in. That's why I built the cross member up front so the one under the engine can go away for clearance.

So brakes, shackles and wheel spacers showed up today. Got the passenger side exhaust modified to clear the shackle this morning(don't mind the crap welds, ran out of gas in the big welder and had to switch to flux core to finish). The last box of important parts shows up Monday, so planing on doing the swap Monday morning :)

Ya it's all trimmed up, haven't boxed it in yet but it's trimmed back. I'll get more pictures tomorrow. Got a late start this morning and it was dark once I finished the test drive.

Still need to clean up brake lines and build some shock towers. May end up adding a leaf to these springs, they are pretty soft. Rides awesome but bottoms out a bit easy lol. Need to recheck my toe also, drives good but wanders a little bit sometimes. Few small things to check out but over all very happy with how it came together.

Hey GWeakland620, did you lose turning radius with your swap? I felt like I did so I measured and I'm far from what this axle is capable of. Specs I looked at say it's good for 40 degrees, mines stopping at about 28 degrees. But not hitting the stops on the axle, its the stops in the steering box limiting it.

Got the shock towers done today to. Drives much better now lol. May change to dual shocks at some point but not sure just yet, made the hoops able to fit two shocks just in case.
