1998 2wd to 4wd, CCLB SAS

Tows great to. Once the 4 wheel stuff is all done and working I'm starting to plan a 6.5 swap. 454 pulls good but the single digits mpg get expensive lol.

Nope. Other than normal maintenance, I’ve had zero issues. I love it.
Nice, like to hear that. Have wanted a diesel forever, just never been able to. And a duamax is still well out of the budget lol. Hoping to find a doner truck for the engine and wiring and all that. Have a plan for adding an intercooler to, going to be another fun build.

this is exactly what i was looking for, i just picked up a 94 6.5 crew cab long bed c3500 and ive been hunting for a thread on swaping a solid axle into a 2wd without adding tons of lift! i might have to copy you a bit
have you done anything more with getting a t-case in there? are you gonna run a divorced case?

@454crew does have a dang good looking truck!

I also have a 6.5 crew lwb build with some 6.5 tech info if you need it too.

Oh, and make sure to start a build thread cause I love the low lift crew cab SAS builds.

Copy all you want, I could even build you all the brackets if you want. I haven't been able to do anything with the t case yet. I do have one and a plan to get it in there. Considered running a divorced but not going to now. Going to build an adapter to work with the longer 2wd output shaft so I don't need to mess with the trans at all.

Check out GWeakLand620 build thread to, his build is very similar. Feel free to ask any questions to, excited to see another low lift SAS.

Yeah I found yours while I was looking at this one, Dang is it long I’m on page 48 so far ha ha excited to see where it goes. I have a build thread for my k5
I need to start one for my new truck I’ll probably do that tomorrow

That would be sweet to have them all made, But I’ve been thinking about using a big hub Dana 44 off a 79 k20. and your brackets are built for the Ford spring pad width right? I’m only considering the Dana 44 because it was free and it has the right gearing already, Do you think that would be adequate? It’s never really going to be a offroad beast, just a tow rig for the blazer that sees the occasional dirt road and snow. Or should I invest in getting a Dana 60?

I considered going with a 44 also when I started planning. Then decided it would really bug me to put a 44 (1/2 ton axle) in a 3500, make it a 3/4 ton essentially, would just bug me and I would end up building a 60 anyway lol. But no it wouldn't make a difference for daily driver/towing and mild Wheeling. What I personally wouldn't do with a 44 is run a tire bigger then 35 or mount a plow on the truck, that's going to be 60 territory in my opinion.

My brackets are for the Ford spring pads because that's the axle I got, I can build them for any spring pad width though, and make them bolt on or weld on.

I'm thinking of doing another build but this time doing a replica of this truck just in the dually version...just cause they are so awesome!

Yours would get better mileage then mine though lol I would have to tow a gas station along with me lol sure do love this truck though. The big block is the only thing I would change, and that's only for mileage reasons.
