2000 GMC SAS: Hydro assist assistance

Pressure sensor failure is a common issue. Especially if you have a "brown" sensor connector on the ac accumulator.

Those look awesome! Just need to get yourself a color matched box :haha:

As far as the AC goes, just the compressor actually cycle when you jump the relay? I suspect that the relay only controls just the compressor's clutch. It shouldn't stay running all the time. These trucks have the PCM controlling the AC entirely, so perhaps one of the pressure sensors has failed?

The salvage yard had 6 gray trucks Tuesday. Not one had a bed. I'm about to just do a garage paint job on it and call it good. I'm tired of white. I've thought the same thing about a bad sensor. I just hate to throw parts at it and hope it works.

Would jumping the sensors over ride this and allow normal function? The accumulator sensor has a brown ring on it.

As far as I know it should. When you jump it, the clutch should activate. The pressure switch won't let it activate to keep the compressor from short cycling.

Nothing major. Been working a lot at the new job, haven't had time to mess with the ad much. Got a good set of gauges on it, added enough refrigerant to get it into the safe area and continue jumping the clutch. Works for now for the short trips around town.

The place at macomb, Oklahoma, big red offroad park, said I could bring it out one weekend. The website says its just open to jeeps and short wheelbase 4x4s, but he said if I wasn't afraid of body damage he'd be glad to see me bring it out there and try to make it fit. In preparation for that, I did something ive been planning to do since the Disney trip with metalneverdies, cut the hitch off and made a crossmember out of it. Ill get some better pictures soon, but for now no more dragging the hitch on the ground.

Now I need to cut the fenders in the rear. I'm planning on a simple piece of tube bent around the sides under the tailgate to the wheel well. Like petersons did on the ultimate adventure f150 a few years ago

Looks good.

I had been eyeballing big red off-road for a while.

Maybe if I get my exhaust fixed up I could tag along? Especially now that I'm not dragging the entire underside of my truck over everything.

When we went out last I scrapped and bent my t case skid, scrapped the exhaust in multiple places, dragged my rear axle and hitch on every rock.

How do you think a k5 would do out there?

I'm going to try to call during the week and see if its still okay to bring my truck. I'd like to have you along, haven't seen you in over a year now. I think if my bus will fit a k5 will do just fine. There were a lot of mall crawler jeeps on at tires Sunday before last and they seemed to be having a good time.

I did quite a bit of dragging at Disney. My rear door still doesn't close right. I thought I was stuck on the waterfall when my hitch was on the ground and my door was in the ledge. Hopefully that doesn't happen again. With a k5s short wheelbase and more ground clearance I'm thinking you'll get around better than me.

Cool deal. I still have my dinky 31's. But the 4" lift helps out a lot. I can't remember if flags and stuff are needed or not?

It has been a while, I'll show up on time this round. Felt like an ass showing up 45 min late.

I remember watching you go up the waterfall. I was cringing at the carnage. Poor door / rocker.

Nothing like that required. The owner is a good ol boy, he's really easy to get along with. No worries on being late. I'm NEVER on time. We're thinking about trying to make it Saturday sometime. Probably be my truck and two rhinos. I may load up the dirtbike or quad if I trailer it out. I haven't decided if I want to go through the trouble of swapping back to the boggers and trailering it or just driving it on the military tires. How far is it from you?

Nice, part of the reason I have not been out to little Sahara is their rollcage/ bar rule for jeeps, broncos, and blazers. Regardless of if you have a factory top.

This Saturday I am going to be busy. Have to make some repairs on my DD. If you end up going out this weekend, ill try and catch you another time.

It's ~53 miles or about and hour drive for me.

I think the roll cage thing only applies to open top vehicles. I've seen over a dozen blazers and broncos out there without a cage. Have you called to confirm this? I've never seen it enforced if it is the case.

I didn't call. Just read their webpage. I interpreted the rule as if it didn't matter if your topless or not. I will have to call and confirm.

I assumed it was for everything as well. I had a quad break down and decided to try and go retrieve it with my truck. Mounted a flag in a spare quad wheel, strapped the wheel down in the bed and headed to the gate. They open the door, made sure I didn't have a cooler full of beer, and waved me on in the gate. It's worth the call, trucks in the dunes is a good time.

Made it out to big red today. Had a good time. Buddy busted the front diff in his rhino and I re arranged some sheetmetal on the gmc. I don't fit on some of the smaller jeep trails.

Not sure how to upload more than one picture from my phone. More to follow.

So do you think my pile of junk would make it around out there?

Was thinking about doing some wheeling this weekend.

How come in a couple of pics your not on pavement? Is this some kind of fad right now? Take your truck off the road?

Looking good man. Looks like fun!

I have yet to figure out how to post multiple pics off my IPhone either.

Truck looks good btw!
