Did a little more work tonight while I wait on parts. Pulled this bracket back off to drill a hole behind for access to the shackle bolt. Bolted it back up and threw a coat of paint on it.

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.

Haha you know it. I get about an hour at a time, so I try to get at least one step done. I get a few hours Saturday. Hoping to get some good progress.
I know how that goes with the fam and kids.

Unit bearings also came in. My dude is coming by to pick them up in a bit. Said he'd have them drilled and done next week.

I bolted up more than 1 bracket today. Frame brackets are on, done, and painted. Bushings are installed in the springs and the shackle. Also had to cut off the exhaust. Rusted/fused together and just didn't want to try and fight to save it. Plus, who doesn't want to put new exhaust on?
Next on the list is cutting and unbolting the old suspension.

Yep you just gonna cannibalize some other packs and add leaves or what? Are you just gonna leave the brackets and coil buckets alone on the frame?
Interesting. Are you aiming for negative arch? That would be normal for a tired old leaf-sprung 1/2-ton truck, but that's not what I thought you were wanting. This will make a difference in my height estimations, but I still think you're going to get a lift out of this.
This is the "crossing the Rubicon" moment. Though that seems like the wrong metaphor here.

I am going to leave the coil buckets there. I will try to use them as a bump pad area possibly. just don't want to cut them out quite yet.
As for springs, I will be looking for a 3 pack 3/4 or 1 ton springs. Or I will be going the route of buying new ones from generalspringkc.com
But either way, I want the springs flat or just a hair on the positive side.

Oh yeah, as for the control arm brackets.
The upper ones will be repurposed as mounts for removable shock hoops. The rears are coming off for sure.
