2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
Are those new springs?

Or is that your bastard pack. I need a goll dang spreadsheet to keep track of everyone's build.

Even if they are new springs I bet they settle less than half an inch.

Further on the springs I think if they end up being too stiff they look dead flat to me. Which is what 2.5" aftermarket springs end up looking like.

But man oh man that looks good

I think I need to build a truck like this except maybe I would go 454 instead of a 6.5L but it's a toss up...gotta have an nv4500 though. I saw one on craigslist one time that was lifted with a solid axle swap and a supercharged 454 and an nv4500. Looked kinda hacked together though.

What about an 8.1/NV4500? :deal:

I think the springs will settle just a little bit. I have the same stance a little bit on my crew cab right now. I'm sure mine is exaggerated a bit since the factory springs were sagging and now I have brand new 3" springs (with 2.5" shackle flip rear). But honestly....I like the height of the front...I say get the rear to match it....but that's just me, haha. This is the way it should have come from the factory in 2000 IMHO. It's looking real good!

Yes I do really love your truck. An 8.1L with an NV4500 in a squarebody is my other truck to have. Plus it's a longbed.

This build makes me want to SAS a GMT400.

David
I think everyone needs to build one at some point. That way GM will get the hint...

I wanted to have the overall height a little lower, says the adult in me. But the teenager/kid in me says to run it on 35's haha. I do like how the front sits. It looks good. Wife was a little caught off guard on the overall height. She's short. 5'2" and doesn't like jumping...

As much as I will be driving this, I need the diesel MPG's. I also like the 6.5 due to the fact everyone who is uneducated about them think they blow up for no reason. It's a unique truck all the way around, and that's why I love it so much. Every around here has new diesels, and are "bros". This is a diesel build with class and purpose.

This is why I have resisted lifting my truck. Wifey doesn't like jumping. If it goes up I'll hafta add running boards to bring it back down again. Which kinda defeats the point. I'll admit that I stumbled on the cage trying to crawl into the Maiden last week. The biggest problem is I'm not used to climbing into a tall caged cab, but I'm not sure how Dave does that so many times.

Usability is important, folks. If Wifey doesn't like it, it's not usable! :deal: :haha: :doah:

She didn't say she didn't like it...

These trucks have a really good positioned grab handle to help her up. She never had to use it, but she'll have to know. I think some sliders with a step may be in the works. We'll see.
