2000 GMT400 CREW CAB SFA SWAP-The Warden: Fuel leak fixed and awaiting surgery…

The ultimate goal for this truck is tow duty/family camping trips/small offroad adventures.
Are you running 4.10 or 4.56 gears? I have a 10.5" G80 that I'd love to get rid of. Unless it's machined it won't fit the common thick gears, just the factory 4.56 ring.
I am running 4.10 gears, but have plans to run a newer 11.5 AAM with discs and a G80.

I feel kinda bad, but I did find that you can machine the ring face to work with 4.10 and down gears.

I may try that. I would like to have the functionality.

The funny part is that when I negotiated that swap I didn't want to part with the Detroit in the other truck. And now I'd rather have a G80.

What would you want for that G80 Ethan?

If you just wanna buy it outright, I'd take $75 + shipping. I can't seem to find the right one for that price, but I'm tired of having it sit. And it makes my todo list one item shorter if I don't hafta track down a machine shop. :haha:

Looks like they bring stupid prices on Ebay. Maybe I should start there.

I'm mostly in the red from Blazer Bash. Let me talk to the boss.

So I've been driving this truck for a week now. I'll start with saying there is a difference in ride quality, but it's still not what I thought it would be. My wife and brother both said they don't notice a difference, and my youngest's chubby cheeks agree too. So am I crazy? Or should I start looking into other factors? @AgDieseler is the only one I can readily think of that is running these springs.

Maybe shock valving? Going to test some different shocks this weekend and see what happens.

I haven’t driven my truck much. But my 3” ez rides springs and 12” bilsteins ride good in my opinion.

This and my square both ride/rode better than my 07 ram 2500 did with that damn Cummins up front. So maybe that’s why I like it so much.

What don’t you like about it? Too jarring? Too stiff over all. Maybe pull the shocks and drive around the block

Exactly this. Way to jarring and stiff still when driving at speed, but if you slow it down the ride feels a lot smoother. I'll be pulling the shocks after work.

And yes, my K5 rides smoother with Black diamond springs and Rancho 9000's on it.

My brother has 2 different pair of Bilsteins that I am going to try, as well as I am going to pull my Fox's off of the K5 and see how they feel too.

The springs just need broken-in would be my guess. How many miles would you say you've put on them?
+1

It took quite a while to break mine in, including a few wheeling trips, and I still eventually removed the bottom two leaves.
