2004 Silverado Crew Cab Solid Axle Swap (LLY with ZF 6 speed)

Unfortunately I already bruised my ribs putting on the heads Sunday, so it still hurts even using the creeper. I'm not sure what's going on with them on Amazon, but it was $299 when I first looked at it last Wednesday, $229 when I ordered it, $219 when I looked at shipping info on Saturday and now it's down to $206.

If you're considering it, now is the time to do it I'd guess.

My opinions so far:
- with my truck at least it's on the 2nd from highest setting so if yours is taller it may not work for you. I do believe they have other taller models though.
- It doesn't fold up very well, although once again there is a model that folds flat (I didn't see it until I ordered this one).
- I see me using this a lot, even on my C20. which I plan on lowering, it just gets you in a better place to reach stuff.
- You can't use it from the side unless you remove the hood since you have to straddle the tire.
- My big fat lip of a front bumper makes it so it doesn't get me as far over the engine as I'd like.

That's it for now. I'm glad I bought it, I just wished it would have showed up on Saturday like it was supposed to.

I got quite a bit done today. Valve lash set, valve covers installed, injectors installed, installed the turbo, installed the Y bridge and all the high pressure fuel lines.

It looks almost complete! If I didn't know how big the parts pile still is I'd probably be excited. Hoping to have it back together by Friday.

Today sucked, there's so many parts that go back on and of course I don't remember where they all go. Worst puzzle ever.

I was replacing a couple of the short straight fuel hoses with some Gates fuel line I had laying around, I had to do a double take and come back in after reading the text on the piece I cut off...

Fuel Line, Not for Fuel... WTF

I checked the part number and it's submersible fuel line rated for gas or diesel so I'm not sure why it says not for fuel.

My parts pile is much smaller now, but it just looks like a mess still.

Progress is slow, so much time spent on Google and YouTube.

I think it might have said not for fuel injection.

It’s a big job.
I made a journal with what I did and put all the small parts in ziplock bags that I had numbered as to when it took them off. Reassembled in reverse order.
I thank my self for taking the time to do that.

a puzzle for sure!
Was your electrical conduit wrap falling apart?
mine was, also was rubbing in a couple spots which will eventually rub through the wire jacket, especially on the drivers inner fender well toward the computer.

Unfortunately when I started taking it apart I was thinking it was going to be easy like an LS or the 4.3, it wasn't until I filled the first bin with parts that I decided to take better notes and split things into multiple labeled bins. I have everything that I took more care with taking apart back on already, but that first bucket of parts I removed is kicking my butt.

Yes, all the split loom is disintegrating. I have some cloth loom, I'll probably rewrap some of it to protect it better.

What would be even worse is if
someone helped take it apart.

I think the most confusing was some of the fuel lines from the Cp3 and a few of the electrical connections that if you installed one before the other and that’s not the order you took it off in you wouldn’t be able to connect. So you would have to go back and and remove parts again.

One thing that was super helpful was that I had a running Lb7 sitting right beside the other. I remember going back and forth quite a bit to see how the wiring was run.

I'm old and forgetful so it really is like someone else took it apart :D.

I had that issue with some of the fuel/coolant lines on the top of the engine. I also had to make a tool to get a couple of the fasteners on the y-bridge tightened. Not to mention the 45 minutes I spent looking for a bracket that was hanging from a wire by the front axle...
