2004 Silverado Crew Cab Solid Axle Swap (LLY with ZF 6 speed)

One thing that was super helpful was that I had a running Lb7 sitting right beside the other. I remember going back and forth quite a bit to see how the wiring was run.
Do you have an LLY truck I can borrow for a couple days?

I'm old and forgetful so it really is like someone else took it apart :D.

I had that issue with some of the fuel/coolant lines on the top of the engine. I also had to make a tool to get a couple of the fasteners on the y-bridge tightened. Not to mention the 45 minutes I spent looking for a bracket that was hanging from a wire by the front axle...
Haha! Me too…Old and half blind.

I switched up yesterday and started working at the back of the engine. I re-sealed the drain pan, reassembled the oil cooler (but couldn't get it installed due to the engine leaning back) modified the passenger up-pipe, fixed the down pipe I was given several years ago by @miniwally and installed all the exhaust parts.

Hoping to get the oil cooler transmission and t-case installed today along with maybe making some more progress on the top of the engine.

I'm a bit stuck now, I'm trying to put the oil cooler back in but there's interference between the new manifold, the tube and the MA engine mounts... There just isn't enough space for it to slide back in there. That manifold has to go in with the head too as there isn't enough room to get it off the studs with the steering column there.

I'm hoping I can do some creative denting on the tube or maybe use a die grinder to knock off some corners on the manifold that are getting in the way. I didn't remove the tube until the head was off, so I may have screwed up in not putting it in place before dropping the head on.

I removed the steering box to column connector shaft and installed the exhaust manifold After the heads were on.

I unbolted the motor mount from the engine on the drivers side and used a jack to lift the engine up enough to get the tube in. Pain in the ass. but it's installed now. I also noticed I was missing a nut from the motor mount while I was in there messing with it so that's fixed now.

Not much clearance with the MA engine mounts.

ugh, fighting the transmission, it doesn't want to go the last 1/2".

No idea what the issue is, The clutch wasn't removed so everything should be lined up, it just seems to be getting caught on the pilot bearing for some reason.

Well, I figured it out, but I have no idea how it happened. My 2 clutch disks aren't lined up.

I have a new clutch on order, but it's not even supposed to ship until June so I guess I get to take this one apart and put it back together again.

Transmission went right in once I got the clutch disks lined up. I still can't figure out how they would have gotten misaligned just sitting on the engine.

Wow, that's a new one. It shouldn't be possible, right?!?
Yea, it has me scratching my head. I pulled the tranny, never messed with the clutch, then tried to reinstall and they were misaligned.
