I think it's amusing that everyone has a bone to pick with him...

His 1st sin was blowing off the advice he asked for, while being an ass about it...

His 2nd sin, and the REAL reason he still hasn't fully integrated himself around here is that he didn't drop to his knees and kiss CK5's collective ass while begging and pleading for mercy and forgiveness.

It was a year ago.

Howdiy straightened up and moved on, and no one else has...and some people just hate him for that. 'Cept me...

Caring and correcting someone when they do something stupid and/or dangerous, (which many would agree Howdiy did on his old truck) is a good thing. Constructive criticism never hurt anyone.

What (name changed to reflect the anal gang-rape that certain members are trying to engage in) has done is jump headfirst into a new thread about a new truck that, as far as I can tell, Howdiy plans to build the right way, and try to rip him a new one for no apparent reason.

Quoted myself...for truth.

There are some of us truly interested in the build. I have no need to see what appears to be a good thread polluted with a bunch of BS from CK5ers that can't seem to act like adults.

If you can't live with that, start a new "let's bash Howdiy" thread in the Lounge or on Pirate, or better yet, take it to an unmoderated Usenet forum where this bullsh!t is an everyday occurrence. If Howdiy's standing with the mods were better, certain members would've already been warned. I'm not saying the mods are biased--Hell, they may not even be aware of what's happening here, but this is not typical of the behavior that makes CK5 a great place to be--most of the time...

I personally believe 1/2 of the readers of this thread have subscribed simply in the hopes that Howdiy will do something they don't approve of to justify jumping his ass.

LET IT GO...

If you guys are so concerned about this build, quit watching it. I want to see it, he has some good ideas, and it looks to me like he is making progress.

Apparently No one else on CK5 has EVER changed their mind, or had an idea that didn't work.

Apparently this kid has some balls to keep putting up with the crap, let him be, if you don't like it, don't reply in his thread.

Now, lets see the update pics...

Consider it "Let go".

I'm subscribed to this thread because I'm curious to see how Howidy is going to do this project. Hell, he probably has more skill then people twice his age. But sometimes you got to be hard on somebody young because young people can be hard headed in their own way. But this bashing on every little thing that Howidy has said is getting out of hand. Howidy doesn't help matters at times but least he is trying.
Howidy, post pictures of what you have done and fix your first post.

I may try to get down there today and get pics

I didn't take the camera yesterday

And at jonprick, as far as the mods, I've actually had one flame me, I found it hilarious :haha:

I'm trying to figure what I'm going to do for a cross member bewteen the brackets now, I may do a hitch mount so some brackets added to stiffen the frame and brackets

Heres some pics of me making no progress

Welds are alright, kind of tight positions plus a lot of vertical welds. I haven't welded thick steel in awhile either, but I believe the welds have excellent penetration

The bracketry is much stronger than the frame itself

I'm going to add some rectangular pieces in to fill in the empty holes and get some extra strength.

Also, heres my laminate steering arm

101_2116.jpg

Keep it up man and follow it through. I see you have 2 different springs in the pics. How much lift are you hoping to achieve and how big are those meats? 39.5s?

39.5's

The spring on the ground is a TC 4" 47" spring and the spring mounted is an 8" 52, neither will be used, I'll use stock 52's up front

I think my front cross member is going to involved dimple dies, but I'm not 100% sure. I may want to add a winch so that will involve some sort of ugly hitch mount

Lets see more pics of the steering arm. If I missed what your doing here from a previous post, clue me in. (about the steering arm) And why straight?

I haven't really posted anything about the steering arm

What do you mean straight? You mean not angled for the tie rod ends? I'm going to heat it up and twist it

I'm going to use a 3/4" hiem, and a tie rod on the pitman side

Really?! We've had the lake come up about 12 feet! Thats distance...not height. haha The Docks even with the lake.

Seems strong enough to me

It's not really in a position that it will have to hold much force

Anyways I think I may try to put the D60 under the truck right now

I might not have any u bolts that will work though

You probably have me on "Ignore":D

But trust me, 3/4" Rod ends will wear out very fast. I tried that route, only lasted two runs and they were shot.
Run the 7/8". Might cost more in the beginning, but in the end they will save you money in the long run.

I don't have anyone on ignore

I think I'll just use a tie rod end then

I think I'll just use a tie rod end then

7/8" rod ends will be cheaper (If you use the weld in inserts) The last tie rod ends I bought were $52.....The rod ends were $30 (Or theres about) and $9 for the inserts. Same size tube on both.

I think I'm going to boatside it also

And try to narrow and bob it pretty soon

It's going to be hard though, not much free time. I think I'll bring it home so I don't have to drive 30 minutes to work on it.

I'm probably going to end up running with these guys

I'm considering getting the 42's of the blue buggy also. I can probably sell my 39's for a good amount more because they are pretty much brand new
