Yea that's it! Man that thing is bada$$. K10A'sBROinSLO, instead of narrowing a pickup cab, you should narrow an entire blazer body, then also narrow the blazer cap. You could have a two seater with the passanger sitting behind you. Or, how about a suburban body:thinking:

I was thinking crewcab narrowed to 2 people wide. They make an S10 crewcab...but they're ugly.
 
The gears are turning again...I've always been pretty stuck on leafs, but the other day I picked up this 60-something 2wd rolling chassis somebody dumped in front of the JY, mostly cuz it has a 1 ton Eaton rear end I thought might be interesting and partly cuz I wanted to look at the coil suspension. It's basically 2 beams that go from an Xmember under the back of the cab and bolt to the bottom of the axle like leaf springs. It has coils on top of them and a bar going across the rear of the axle from the frame to the axle to locate it laterally. We looked at it a bit, and decided it wasn't very useful, since it doesn't flex because the beams cannot twist. Then tonight I was thumbing thru the Dec 06 4 wheel and offroad and came across this green '65 FJ45 that's using those beams. He put them on top of the axle and uses 2 upper links to locate it laterally. I wonder how well it works. I was thinking about grafting the whole rear of this truck onto the back of the K5, maybe making the beams longer end putting heims on them at the frame end so they'd twist and putting a pickup cab and stepside bed on it. Have I ever mentioned that I love stepsides?

My brother had a 72 2WD that had that setup on the rear. It is basically the same setup they use in NASCAR but not sure how to make it flex:o .

Maybe you could mount the spring perches on a u-joint to allow it to swivel a bit. Or modify the arms with a hiem joint at the frame. I think this would work like the front end of an XJ.

The more I look at it, the simpler it seems. Almost like a 1/4 elliptical set-up.

You'd be suprised how much twist you can get out of those arms. They look rigid, but they are actually pretty twisty. I remember mags a buch of years back running a bunch of trucks that used the chevy beams with tall coils. Tehy seemed to flex pretty well. I had a pair at one point was going to do something silly to the truck, but reality got the better of me (poor college student at the time) so i decided to stay with leaves, but i was suprised at the weight of the beams and the apparent flexines of them. I wouldn't say they are as good as a well designed 4 link, but for junkyar pieces with a panhard, i think they might work pretty well. ( the above is purely drunken opinion and reflects no real first hand knowledge, so take it for what its worth)

Maybe I'll try them as-is, and if need be, put heims on the upper end.
 
yeh petersons did that to a truck. just put the trailing arms on top the axle and use some u-bolts. it gets you the lift of the trailing arms and those suspensions flex half decent

Looks like an eaton to me and the shocks are already inboarded:haha: . They are pretty strong and I belive you can put a Detroit from a 14FF and run the 30 spline 14FF shafts in it. I think Eatons only had 16 spline shafts. Georgiagabe has one in his rig.

So...my K5's A/C still works, and it's kinda a must down here. How hard will it be to swap into the new truck?

CrewCab or CUCV? I know the CUCV didn't have A/C, so it would be harder. The CC might have...
