The Vette was built on 4/23/64. Making it 61 yrs young! To celebrate this birthday…
Ive decided this is a rebirth of sorts, so I’ll call this the Rebuild 2.0, with so many new parts that Ive been collecting for a few years now.
The new 427 will require more fuel to feed those 425 horses (wink wink), and also need a return line for the FI system. The fuel line runs between the boxed frame and the birdcage, so lifting the body is perhaps the best way to run those lines, and keep them protected as well. While the body is “loose” it makes sense to put in a roll bar/perhaps a cage (needed to go quicker than 11.5) and makes sense for those kind of speeds as well to put in a better restraint system than the old lap belts attached to the fiberglass floor.
Mechanically, most everything will be inspected, rebuilt, or upgraded, as the new parts pile gets installed. Its frutal to put a timeline on it, as I’m just starting the conditioning phase of my shoulder rehab, and need a friends help to do the heavy lifting, but I’ve been resourceful at times in figuring out how to do things one handed (usually). Hearh has ordered the pushrods and head gaskets, and then I will start engine work w a few more clearance checks, paint, and assembly….after another trip to Arkansas! Happy birthday little red riding hood!
