'72 Bluggy: Rocks/ 47s/ LoMax

That bites about the Blazer. Doesn't look like a whole lot of progress has been made. I think Robert needs to come help you build. Nice trailer though ;)

Robert's more of a sit around kind of guy :haha:...No he's good company and help

So, what is your first task going to be now that it is home?
X-members, that way I can mount the body back in place and get the wiring and motor buttoned up, as well as the shifters.

I recently started building the x-members for the LoMax, the doubler adaptors, and the tranny...notching tubing sure is a pain in the rear. Hope to have the x-members done soon, with my externship, the kiddos, and my licensing exam coming up pretty soon, time is pretty tight. But here's some progress & not much left to do but cut the tubing for the tranny, weld in the mounts, and weld in some gussets for the adaptor x-member...

LoMax providing a completely flat belly...

I also decided to chop all of the floor out and just keep the firewall and windshield and will possibly be cutting out the rock sliders and boatsiding them some. I'm eager to get the body tossed back on, but the next few weekends are gonna be crazy for me. :D

I know all about having very little free time to get to work on the truck - the progress is looking good, keep at it!

Finished the doubler x-member...welds got better after dialing in the welder and getting a new helmet I can actually see the puddle with. Hopefully it'll hold and I have enough room for the seats :haha: Next up is the tranny x-member but got all the mounts ready to go just need to cut the tubing and weld it up.

It's definitely got me scratching my head wondering how the passenger seat (or the actual passenger) is going to get back in there???

Guess I'll have to be in suspense like everyone else. :)

:usaflag:

If I had to guess, the 203 looks to be sitting right where the console would be. Since the bed gets higher right after the console, it might not be too bad.

Way to be different! :D Don't think I ever see it done that way beeefer
:haha: not trying to be different just how it worked out...it's only 1.25x.250" DOM...not really proud of the welding on the tubing but it's done and happy with it

the wife's not too tall so i can fit her in there while being able to move the seat further forward

yea been looking for pics of others setups to get an idea but won't be able to see until I get what's left of the body back on hopefully next week :D

RGV,

It's sort of like playing Chess....you plan your moves a few turns ahead, or you spend a lot of time wondering why you just fabricated yourself into a corner. :)

If I wasn't going to Mog-9s, I'd have given serious consideration to a high-pinion front D60. If you're using a modest amount of suspension lift, having that pinion even just a few inches higher would make a big difference in angularity and will help a LOT with the operating angle of u-joints in droop. (uptravel angularity is rarely the issue).

How long is your front driveshaft going to be...have you taken a measurement from yoke-to-yoke yet?

i like how you wrote tranny on the crossmember...

lol never good when you forget what your working on:haha:

thanks for the encouragement :D Im considering building a d-shaft similar to yours with the D60 stubs...or I could chop the x-member and a long front d-shaft...haven't measured it yet, will do tomorrow :D

wrote tranny so I could remember which way it needed to face :haha:
