2016.03.17 - UPDATE!!! - HEAVY METAL DAY!!!

Wow... A solid performance from GMCPauls and KeyParts.

I placed an order a couple of days ago, for a reproduction part and was a bit chaffed about the shipping charges that they assessed. Felt like they were gouging me pretty bad, but I needed the part so I just opened up the wallet and bit my tongue.

Well today I got a call that the shipment had already arrived!

At first I thought it was a joke when the forklift pulled this thing out of the freight truck... no way a box that big was for me. :yikes:

After a bit of unwrapping, things started to make more sense...

IMG_8954.jpg

They had built a massive wooden crate to protect my shipment and then loaded boxes on both sides to make sure that no other crates in the truck could get anywhere near it! It must have taken me about 20 minutes to cut all the banding off and get everything unloaded, but it was SO worth the trouble:

:saweet:

This is the new full-reproduction Blazer floor made by Woodall Industries. It's not only the stamped floor, but also includes all the cross sills and other body mount bracketry as well. It looks REALLY nice, and even when fully unpacked it was still around 150Lbs.

It wasn't an easy assignment to get it onto the roof of my truck with only one good arm, but I guess the adrenaline of fresh sheetmetal helped me to fight through the discomfort. :)

Drove immediately up to the house and got it all unloaded and safely put away before the rain clouds rolled in this afternoon. Perfect timing.

Can't wait to get started on this one! :waytogo:

How is the thickness compared to the original?

I think you got your money's worth on shipping.:saweet: I have NEVER seen something so well crated and protected. I don't know how many sheet metal pieces I have had to reject from poor packaging and reckless freight truck drivers.:angry1:

That's pretty damn cool. Been a loooong time since any of us has gotten any new sheet metal. That piece looks bad ass. Can't wait to see ya cut it up. :haha:

You should exo cage the DD. that way you can get plywood and crap. We all know how many hours have been spent on the Blazer mods so you could haul a damn piece of plywood inside. :D

Wow that is pretty good of them! Do they make anything else for our trucks? I'm going to look..

Are you going to replace the floor under the roll cage mounts?

I'm wondering because if I remember correct you had Kert machine you some custom plates to fit into the flutes of the floor in the bed area.

Now I wonder if those plates will still align with the new floor flutes, or will they go in the tuition pile...?

So um, just so you know... I could beadroll patch panels to weld in that have flat areas for cage plates, and then areas to match up to the raised sections..... :D

I honestly thought of that this morning and thought of gregs ideas from the past with the plates etc...

I just smashed the plates down to the floor with an impact and never really worried about it....

Actually, I did things right for a change...... I put the machined cage plates project on a slow-burn knowing that I'd probably be buying a new floor. The convoluted sections MIGHT be a slightly softer stamping, so I want to compare them to my original templates and make any adjustments necessary to match the new floor profile.

Woodall Industries apparently makes ALL the sheetmetal for our trucks, and when they create a new part like this bed floor they hold a 1-year exclusive license on distribution, then they open it up and sell it to any reseller that wants to carry it. KeyParts was the one who actually drop-shipped this one, even though I ordered through GMCPauls... I'm not sure if they are the ones who built the crate, but that was an awesome display of high-quality customer service.

Woodall makes a TON of reproduction parts. I wouldn't be surprised if they made a full assortment of later-model Blazer parts too. Check out their website, you might find what you need. :waytogo:
