Huh!

It took me 3 days to read this thread (I feel like I know everyone now). I thought, hey I cant wait till the last page and see the truck all finished:doah:.. You could easily publish this as a book and pepole would buy it.. And congrats on the little guy I am sure he is ready to start working with ya in the manspace now..Looking forward to the next update:popcorn:
 
Yeah, about that....

Danger is 19 months old now and is VERY interested in all the things Daddy keeps in the garage. During the last workshop day when I had the welder, plasma and all sorts of grinders and tools (and metal debris) around he was determined to get in there to touch everything. He made about a dozen attempts, all thwarted by my attentive wife... And he got so frustrated he had a meltdown and was crying uncontrollably.

Don't worry little man, you'll be in there with me soon enough and it will be one of my proudest moments as a father. :)

Yea , that is so good. Back in the day my first little monster I had would crawl through the cat door:haha:...Soon the questions will be flying at you, Dad what is this , Dad why are you doing that , Dad that is to loud, Daddaddaddaddadadadadad.. Kids are awsome...:waytogo: Keep up being a great dad (and K5 fixererer upper)

Hang in there brother! Mike is right..... It's been a long month of weekends doing roofing work. But as of sunset today, I finally finished my prep work and I'm handing the rest over to the pros.

I've still got some kitchen work to finish, but the "to do" list is getting smaller by the day...

Soon the house will be complete, and I can start spending luxurious hours in the manspace again.

It's possible...

The roofing project is now complete (what a nightmare).
The Kitchen just got new countertops yesterday, and I installed the new "touch sensitive" faucet (another nightmare) and food disposal. My bride has wanted one of those for the last 5 years.

I'm starting to think maybe I've been taking on too many large projects around the house? :dunno:

After something like 12 consecutive weekends spent working on the house, I think I've earned a day or two of garage time without coupons required.

Never really wanted to click on this thread because it is so long. Then "the might as well" suggestion took hold. Read the last couple of pages just to get an idea of what was going on. Saw some info on pulling a 2" body lift and a funky looking rear axle and wondered how something got to this point. Ended up reading the majority of the thread (with a little speed reading here and there). and discovered that this thread is more of a creative paradise of sorts. It is nice to see a build that focuses on the journey (as opposed to the destination). You are building a legacy that your son can read about some day. Possibly as he helps you finish it :waytogo:. Thanks for sharing the adventure. It has been fun to watch you, "ride the tiger" as DIO would say.

I am firm believer in the journey, and what I've previously called "the process"... The truck is the object of that process, but ultimately I get a lot of satisfaction from being in my workshop, with all of my tools organized with good lighting and music playing in the background.

A good amount of the build is analytical (link design, etc) but an even larger component is right-brain (creative) activity. It is very satisfying to be "in the zone" of that creative process and solving problems in 3D.... Being able to stand back after a couple of hours of effort and see a well-executed solution is tremendously rewarding.

......and on that topic, I have negotiated an official "garage day" for tomorrow (Sunday). I'm not sure what I should tackle with my next 8 hours, so if anyone has any suggestions I'll entertain requests.... :ears:
