72 k5, sons first truck build.(officially NOT mine now..)

Why yes, yes we are:D. But it messes with people cause she's actually my best friend. Her fiance (a good friend of mine) Died in a motorcycle wreck recently. She cant afford to keep his house, and she was going to quit school to get a job. I told her to stay here till she finishes school. Shes in college to be an EMT and the world is always better with more of them.

your boy will defiantly be proud to drive the truck any ware he goes and it will teach him more then to just build a truck. I always hung out with my dad and wrenched on cars and it kept me out of a lot of trouble. :waytogo:

But now it has turned on me and it is an addiction :doah:

Well after a LONG dryspell on this thing we got a couple of hours on it yesterday. got the plug wires madeup and routed. carb linkage bracket mounted and fan n alt mounted. ran into a possible issue with the distributor. I know it will tighten down but it has forward toback and side to side movement:dunno: It just dont seem right but its all new stuff.

That is quite odd, it still moves that much when its tightened all the way down??? Maybe that intake needs a different style distributor???

its not tightened down yet. but I still think its supposed to be a better fit than that:dunno:. I'll get it a little tighter and see how it goes. I cant really see what it will hurt actually. we're starting on the radiator support and grille now. should have them in soon. then its all finish wiring and hoses n such.

The only thing I could think of is if its tightened and pulled at a slight angle it could cause some binding in the gear on the dist and the cam gear, but im sure their is enough clearance.

I love seeing a dad show his boy how to be a man and pass on skills...:waytogo:

My oldest boy just turned 16 and has a summer job at a buddy's fab shop doing grunt work... He's excited because he gets "shop time" after hours...

My son helped me a lot on the Blazer and the bus, now he has a fullsize cherokee 2dr I gave him... I was gonna help him build it here at the house, but my buddy offered up the space, materials, tools and help...

I'll be over there a lot, but it's cool to have dad's buddy showing you how to do stuff... All his friends are jealous...

Keep up the great work... These are memories that will last a life time...

Its gonna get a lot done real soon too, (If I can get his girlfriend to stay away for a few days here and there:rolleyes:). I'm taking a small loan out to finish it all up on my end. He's getting more exited now that its warmer out. He has a permit so he can drive it intstead of ride in it now. We're deffinatly building memories:thumb:

I just ordered a bunch of tube and flat steel for the cage and other interior uses:woot:. I'm about ready to get some use out of my JD2 model 32 finally. I can't wait:D were gonna try to get it running this week. I need to be able to take it to level ground to do the cage.

That's awesome :waytogo: :thumb:

My son is only 4 1/2 , but he constantly talks about how cool it's going to be when the Blazer is done, I have been upgraded as well, as it's now "our Blazer" as opposed to it being "his" Blazer :woot:

wow,hes a lucky kid to have a dad like you! thats my favorite gen. chevy truck. hes going to smile ear to ear when its done! hes going to learn sooo much. not to mention all the little hussies that like trucks :haha: im speaking like being 23 is old

his girl friend wont leave him alone long enough to finish it, even though she keeps telling him to get it done.

I feel like I have this same problem.... My engine should have been done weeks ago but for some reason...:thumb:

Just make sure to tell him no SHADY the III's yet or he cant have the truck lol

I already told him that if he knocks someone up before he graduates I'm SELLING the truck. Thats been a pretty big topic around the house lately. He'll get on it when the metal gets here(monday), and he see's the cage coming together. Thats one thing I am building and he is helping on.
