72 k5, sons first truck build.(officially NOT mine now..)

I did some trial fender repair today. We broke out the welded nuts that hold the rad support when we disassembled it. So I tried a home remedy

The boy will be welding the next one and grinding the welds down. I hope it works out well.

Well we havent gotten it running yet due to the holidays. but we did make a little progress. the grille was painted straight white when we got it. I mean everything. Whole front end. That had to go:rolleyes: Got the fender nut fix finished too.

Its a woven wire that I've been looking for for years. First used it when I was working in the fab shop years ago. dont know what they call it but I like it. I found a set of shelves that had it with a wood frame. $20:thumb: I still have a bunch of it for use on a few upcoming projects:whistle:

Nice. Neat looking and additional rock/pebble/road rash protection.

Trying to find old manifolds to start this thing with so we dont burn up the ceramic headers is kicking our a$$. ones off 88 and newer bodies wont work and NOBODY here has any others. I got one guy left to check then its off to the junk yard. I so wish I would have held on to the originals:doah:Putting them on is all thats holding us up from doing the radiator support. (its just easier to get at everything) I guess we should just get on it and get the front together. Hope to have it done soon. He's in drivers ed now.

If I remember right you can pick up replacement manifolds for pretty dang cheap. For some reason I saw them on Rock Auto and they weren't terribly expensive.

Rick, I got the center dump rams horns off my Vette if those would work....you can use em, but I want them back. lemme know.

You looken for stock 350 manifolds off a 72 k5 ? I have a set I just took off my k5 ?
That would be ideal, Your not real far from me either:thinking: If I can get the girlies car to stop leaking oil in the next few days I'll PM ya and go from there:thumb:

Got mine off the 305. Idk how much shipping would be though

I dont know what will fit and what wont.:dunno: So its kinda, just hold a set up and see. The 90's truck ones I tried dumped RIGHT into the tranny lines. dead center 2" away:doah:There's not much room to the frame..

I still have to try a couple locals. then I'll start looking into shipping. Thanks guys:thumb:

Rick, these are what my rams horns look like, if its clear beneath the two center ports they should work:

I'll look when I get home but I believe its clear. Maybe if it is clear I could get you to ship them to me quik. I'll get my boy to help me finish her up and do the cam break in. then you can pick em up (and the cash for shipping) on your way through here:thinking:

well it looks like I have enough room to put the rams horns of yours in zim. I'd love to have tose factory ones but I currently have no way to get to them. If you can bring yours with you when you come down zim I'll have everything ready for em. then while your out at kurts we'll try to get the cam break in done. That way I can run them down to I-80 and give em back on your way back through. Or I'll mail them back if we by chance dont get it done in time.

that sounds like a good plan Rick, I'll throw em in the truck!

Sweet:waytogo: what day you planning on coming back through so I can get a plan together for my kid to be around.

well I got the rams horns from dave to use. And in the process of installing them I tried to bend the dip stick tube out of the way........ BAD IDEA:doah:

Now what:dunno:

Its really hard to get back in there too
