Shawn,

It looks like you've got a serious case of A.D.D. going on there!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

In all seriousness, mixing a hodgepodge of different years doesn't look right and really seems to be hurting the "coolness" of what that project could be. If you're going to build a "classic" Chevy, then build one!!! That late model bed looks WRONG on there....

If you must....add some newer interior touches to modernize the truck, but leave the classic lines of the truck alone.

YMMV, IMHO, BTDT, ROTFLMAO, etc.

here is a crappy chop of where I am going with this, but with am racing torque thrust or cragger drag stars wheels in 15 or a 16 front, 16 or 17 inch rear

I want to get the new axel in and test fit some rims before I give up on the bed, both beds have issues and the older bed has no floor so a bed kit would be pricy$$$$

but the 95 has damage on one side as well..$$$

I dont know, I may paint both! /forums/images/graemlins/screwy.gif

Re: pics of the new 72 project...updates 8-18-04

You can make a new bed for the old one yourself , wood can be cut at the place you purchase it from , and staining is as easy as painting a truck , which you can do /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

Re: pics of the new 72 project...updates 8-18-04

I think the 95 bed fits the flowing style of the truck better than the choppy ones from the 67-72 era... so, as much as I hate to say it, I think you should clean up and keep the newerstyle bed.

here is the headers, ceramic coated they were just 262.00 to the door! sweet! the 12 bolt is in, I just need to order my chromo rears and posi and she will be ready for the pounding. Gears are 3.73, I may change that up depending on what stall I put in the 400 /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif

I am building up a 79 chevy with david this week for his younger brother so progress is not happening, but the parts stack is climbing. /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif

I got my brake set up close to done, so I need to put it all on the frame and test it out I guess! I still need to put on my aluminum pulleys on the big block and throw the msd wires on. Once all this crap is done I need to get it to a exaust shop so I can get the pipes bent. /forums/images/graemlins/weld.gif

I also have my duel carb intake ready to go on, I will run a pair of edelcrap 600cfm performers for now and step it up later when the second phase of the big block gets done.....468 with a steel crank kit! /forums/images/graemlins/deal.gif

the windshield frame is also sleved with 1 inch tubing now, I ran it down, drilled and tapped the ubing, the ran a bolt into it under the cowl, on the rest of the winshield piller it has spot welds.

more progress next week..hopefully start it up, pull the body and get ready for paint..

next problem is the temps right now, too low for me to shoot it with out having to worry /forums/images/graemlins/frown.gif

Lookin good man, i dont know how you can move so fast on your projects. I took forever just to paint mine...and it still looks like ****

lol, funny you say that,

I really have very little time into this truck, I have not got to work on it in a while, it was going to be a 3 month project but then other projects got in the way. I hope to get back on it real soon and update the pics. I could punch this truck out if I would just give it a solid week, but things come up.

the burn victim..aka the 86 is almoast back together now, I just need to shoot the paint and then I can hop on the 71 again. I did finally get the 34 coupe moved, so now I can raise the body up and get things going!

I am stoked to fire it up though!

the duel carb high rise intake is on and it simply looks insane! I think I am going to change to the 67-68 fron end and put the air filters and scoop through the middle of the hood. I think it will look cool?????

that is gonna look tuff! i say stay with the olders bed and run torgue thrusts for the wheels. still look vintage!
so far I am leaning with the older bed, as fow wheels iwant the tourqu thrust or some cragers, but I picked up a decent set of 17's for cheap so I will run those for now untill I get it on the road and decide what I want.

today I will be playing with the plasma cutter all day and making the filler pieces for the fire wall...sounds like fun to me!

also got some more goodies for the project.. I am not too shure on the rear veiw mirror, but I "think" it will look good. With the brakes comming up from the frame now I want to move my gas pedal over just a hair...plus this set up looks better! Today I am going to go look at the middle seat from a 01 tahoe, tan leather and a unused take out...it is a 60/40 with a fold down console and the seats bottoms flip forward. I think that would be nice to mount my amps to the bottom of the seats for easy access...:pimp:

here is the ebay pic of the seats...

I really hope to get these! cumfy lookin and the leather quality is so much better then the 99 and down seats.

I think it will work, I dont see why I cant make it work, I already and going to have to move the cross member, the frame will need to be trimmed too.

any body else do this?

I got the tank for a killer price! I also got the brakes off the truck to go with my brakes on the frame idea... lots fitting to do on it though before I can call it done.

hey I moved the truck, then I moved, but I am starting back up on it,

just ordered,

dual carbs
linkages
fuel pump
cog pulleys with a 1 inch belt, fully polished billit:D
hilborn style air scoop
spacers
chrome alternator
polished billit brackets

just picked up the tranny mount and u-joints for the rear shaft too,

this week I will be trying to order and pick up everything to finish the chassis, so breaks, fuel cell, shocks ect are all in the works,

I also reserved a paint booth for may 21st so I will get a move on:D

current thoughts are what to do about the firewall and weather I should push it back or not, also trying to decide on a rear wheel combo so I can tub the rear.

lots of thinking right now, progress should start back up in the next two weeks;)

well the project is going to come to a hault instead :(

I have decided to just gather my goodies for it for now, I still have alot of parts to buy and I am living in an apartment right now, so the truck is in a garage here and I cant really work on it much :(

I will get the motor and breaks taken car of, but the body will have to wait, I and looking for a small utility trailer to haul the cab around so i can work on it at a friends house, the welder is a 220, and I have no where to hook it up at the apartments garage.

I also decided I really want the frame powdercoated, I am not happy with the paint on it, its to easy to chip it or damage it, so I want to haul it over to a powder coating shop and get it powdercoated silver :D

updates will be in a month or so,

I did pick up a new core support for 20 bucks though, and I got a factory style blazer tank to use instead of the s10 tank.
