anybody know of any source for torque settings on the transfer case bolts? with the seal retainers being aluminum i didn't want to risk overtorqueing. can't find it on the internet or my service manual i bought specifically for the tx case that has nothing on the tx case:doah:

I believe, (not 100% positive) that you can use the specs for a 205. Same aluminum retainers from what I see.
I don't think that they go over 25 ftlbs.
Going off of memory..

Not sure what bracket you mean but I like flat and lock washers on everything. Cat does that a lot and it bugs me to not have washers.

It's just the transmission mount bracket that bolts to the frame with 8 bolts. you can see it behind the transfer case in the pic. I like your idea of flat and lock washers. It bugged me too. Thanks again

I think that one of the best things to do when working on wiring is to plan on it taking a while. Deciding how to route the harness can take some time and experimentation. And try like hell to not be scared of it! The research that you are already thinking about will help you learn. I have seen several guys on here claim to hate any kind of wiring work, and then move along to do some very nice work!

Out of curiosity, why aren't you taking the tub to the body shop sooner? With the amount of work that you mentioned, it will take them a good amount of time to get it done. And do you have a cart or small trailer for the tub to sit on? I don't remember if you have posted about that.
This question about the tub has been in the back of my mind since @6872xtc posted this and I went back through several frame offs and I think its smarter to go ahead and get the body work done, get the tub back on the frame and paint done prior to putting in the motor so I'm going to work on getting the tub to the body shop hopefully in the near future

finishing up the driveshafts this weekend but still waiting for a new center yoke for the double cardan. sandblasting and painting in november way more fun than august. thinking ahead i am trying to figure out the best way to hang the exhaust. i crawled under my son's 2500 sierra and it is mounted to the transmission and frame. i have heard the best way to mount it is to the frame and not the body and i am not above grinding off some of the frame paint and welding brackets. anybody aware of any good threads in this area? i plan to go with the stock manifolds if that matters

Quite often you can use bolt-on hangers in existing holes. Sometimes you may have to bend the hanger strap and possibly put a twist in it, but by now there are probably plenty of holes in crossmembers and the rear frame rails to bolt something on. I don't like welding hangers on, personally, but a tab would be fine to me.

Thanks, I like the idea of bolt on hangers and there are plenty of holes in the frame that should work. I bought brand new dual exhaust for this thing right before the engine blew
