'73 k5 Build - New Drivetrain - 350/3500/241/205

That sounds like it would be a sweet drivetrain. I really dig the TBI350.

Who made your york bracket? I've got a york compressor I really want to mount up in my truck, but need to build a bracket. Got any pics of just your bracket? I've got access to a plasma cutter and my welder.... :)

I am running a tbi on a carb intake right now and I like the tbi but I think the adapter is the source of a wicked vacuum leak. I dont know anything about the engine so I am looking for something I can trust. I will post some pictures of the bracket tomorrow or saturday. It is just a few stock brackets and some plate cobbeled together. Tied it into the steering pump and exhaust manifold

I though I had more pictures of it for you Colby but this is the only one I have. It just ties into the power steering pump bracket and the exhaust. The top piece is just some 1/4", eventually I may slot the holes and rig up some sort of belt tension adjuster but it works like this for now. I run the belt off the second grove of the alternator. If you search google images for "york mount sbc" people put them all over the place with some pretty creative mounts.

Cool. Thanks! I have a serpentine set up, so it might get a little more confusing for me to figure out, but then again I won't need a tensioner, so maybe it won't be bad. I guess I need to mod my pump first too? Dunno. Need to research it.

Started to rewire my accessories and move most of my switches and stuff overhead on the cage. The slots are for the wiper switch and another wiper switch running the windstars. The push button will be momentary wipers. Then a row of rockers for stuff like the york and lights. Eventually my cb will be up there too.

I got a different gauge bezel from a newer truck with a colum wiper switch and my wiper harness is pretty messed up. I figured I had to mess with it so why not?

I pulled a bunch of stuff out of my parents garage today, tool chest, slider metal and some other random scrap metal/tube. In that random scrap metal I found another street sign and am going to start over on the overhead. I just kinda jumped in on the one above and didnt plan it out very well. Hopefully going to the junkyard tomorrow to get some goodies to throw up there. Going to pick up a tool box for the bed too.

what size tool box?
I have a couple steel ones and a couple of aluminum ones.:dunno:

Little bit more progress. Found a tailgate yesterday and picked up a box my parents got me for christmas.

I believe is 46" wide 16" high and 19" deep. $190 on sale at tractor supply. It is pretty damn light too, a lot lighter then I thought it would be.

Got a little bit more done on take two of the overhead. Made a stupid mistake and messed up cutting the hole for the fuze holder but oh well it will be hard to see once its in the truck. I also of set the CB to the wrong side, damn upside down stuff messed with my head :doah:

Been thinking about the wiring of the windstars and have some questions. Is there a way to run and on-off-on switch to turn on the large fan on one "on" and both for the second "on"? If I am thinking about this right they would both turn on in either position if wired on 2 relays? If I want to run this kind of setup I would need to run 3 relays correct? Or am I way off?

I am interested in this as well. Im not running windstar fans but I have dual electric fans and want to be able to use an on-off-on switch that works the way you describe but Im unsure how.

Been a little distracted by my girlfriends Bronco again but I have done a little on the k5. Finished the overhead and got it mounted to the cage. Still need to finish wiring it up but it getting close. It looks like I am going to run 3 relays to run the fans on the on-off-on switch to make it on-off-both. Still need to look into diodes though,my very limited understanding of them is they are "one way valves" for electricity?

Also picked up a nv3500, turns out it is a s10 version so I am still reading up on that. Anyone know if there is any differences in the s10 vs silverado versions? I know it has a 5 bolt transfer case pattern, a 27 spline output and the shifter is about 13" back from my sm465. If the internals are the same I am thinking I will run a NP231 case with 241 internals for the doubler. If not I will keep loo0king for the right version.

I picked up a drivers drop np241 and a bit of 1/2" aluminum. Figured I would just make and adapter for the 5 bolt s10 transfer case so if I swap to a different tranny down the line it would be easier. Got the case ripped appart yesterday and the adapter mounted on the case. I need to figure out clocking position and some other details before I finish it up.
