If understand what you are seeing, but I don't know if it would stuff a bigger tire without rubbing while turned. Just my opinion from the one picture.
But I also think that it looks good as is!
It makes me think of a desert runner!
 
Diesels are long gone :( but I have a 2.0t CC
And there's 2 inches at the firewall left of clearance. So he could run 37s right now and not rub. If he was to reduce the uptravel then he could go bigger.. it's all proportional to the uptravel or fender trimming.

bigger tires = bigger axles = different rims = new gears & lockers

i plan on running deavers with a 16" 2.5 and that will come first and then doing a 205 203 doubler

i plan on upgrading 37 down the road

So this means that you are thinking more of a crawler? I just guessed with the 1/2 tons that you were going to shoot for some higher speeds stuff on occasion. The look it has now made me think of Wade's!

I'm trying to get this an all around rocks desert exploring... running a 37 will give the extra clearance the doubler would be used more for descending so I'm not always on my brakes and the deavers for moving out in open desert... we're not looking to do anything great but everything well...
I could probly get away with chromoly axles and upgrade to a sf 14 bolt 6 lug on 37s
