75 K-5 5.3 LS transplant [with pics]

if you would have run a manual trans would you have hade the 4lo problem your hade. because ill be doing the same swap but ill be running a 6.0L and a sm465, do you think ill have any issues with running a 4 speed behind it

no. if you run a ECM that just operates the engine only. But you still have to have a speed sensor.

This, I have however run with out a vss on my buggy, not ideal at all and would occasionally stall.

Put a vss using jags that run or dokota digital parts on there and you will be much happier.

You should be able to get the ecm tuned for stand alone and not a vss but it has to be done in the ecm. If you just unhook a vss form a ecm programed to have one then you will have issues. But if it is set up for no vss input it will run fine.

Just read through this thread, good info. I'm looking at getting a 6.2 to put in mine. Any advice y'all have would be helpful. Talk to a guy that does ls swaps and said it would be no problem to do and just use my 700r4. Need to get more info on what all I will need to make this happen. Should I be worried or just go for it.

I would on the 6 auto, but I don't want to change crossmember/ transfer case (205)/ drive shafts, ect.
I've be told it will be fine for what my plans are for this K5.

Allright, now we move on to bump stops. After looking at different brands [most of them very pricey] I decided to try:
Daystar Stinger air bumps.

They are adjustable with the different colored "pucks". You can also limit the stroke of the shafts.
No seals, no gas charge, they seem very basic.Plus, with the optional weld-on mounts

I figured on useing the original bumpstop brackets.

Ready to go

don't know how they'll do but I took the stock mount turned it upsidedown and welded the screw-on mount to it

set the mount back about 3/4 inch figureing when the spring is compressed everything moves to the rear[a little].
And I had to drill another hole in the frame for the third bolt.
Don't know how it will hold up but, I broke the axle with the other bumps on these mounts. If they are strong enough to withstand that than we'll see:whistle:

Erl's part number for the conversion fittings from metric tbi sending unit to an.
9894DBJ ( 16mm line feed)
9894DBh (14mm line return)

That trap door access panel you made came out nice.

Do you 2 of each for the fuel lines one set at the tank, another at the motor?

Yea, Earl's make the one s for the tank. I think Russell makes the ones for the engine.
\Thank goodness fore SUMMIT!
