Yeah he's got one, this pinion setup was a bit different than the set that was in there. Literally everything inside the housing is new except the caps. He honed the surfaces before install and had to do more cleaning inside before he could proceed....I don't know what it was, almost rubbery/gummy after the acid dip....that was an extra hour of labor but it's good now.....10 hrs labor total.

That price is right in line with what we would get at the shop. Usually with lockers, gears, master overhaul kit and labor, its usually right about 1800.

A lot of those costs are not directly needed for the swap , they are performance and reliability upgrades. Which by my quick math accounts for a little more then 1/2 of your 8100.00 total

Yes it sure is Gus....you could say Might As Well! I try to do a decent job on my projects, and upgrading and improving here and there are part of my overall vision for the project. The trans was usable, but who knows how long it would last in stock condition with a boosted engine in front of it, especially towing, I didn't want to take a chance on it. The rear end I could have used the 4.10 setup it had, but in the long term vision, the 3.54's optimize the engines powerband for my application. The Locker was another added expense that I felt I needed, as its not a 4WD truck, and if I get in sand/mud pulling a trailer it would be a great asset to have all 4 tires turning together. Even the engine upgrades aren't needed, but MAW!

I would like to say I'm posting my costs so others can get an idea of what the cost of the swap is....I realize my expenditures can be cut significantly, but I have my way of doing things and that ends up running up the final bill as well!
With that said.....progress is being made again finally.
I moved the cab to the lift, then moved the chassis underneath all in a matter of 90min instead of a full day!
Oh and it looks like it's going to fit as is with the body pucks in place and a 1" body lift it should be a great marriage!
A few pics of the two back together with Cummins power!

freakin' awesome man. Can't wait for the finished project.

On that note, I'm sure that wood provides some dampening, but I'd probably switch out those body mounts for something more traditional. :D

Eric, remember the stories we were coming up with while in the parking lot that night....lol! Poor Adam!
So I'm thinking the lift will help with clearance at the trans tunnel and floor. I think this 2wd tunnel is lower than a 4wd?
I basically just dropped it on the chassis today. I haven't checked underneath for clearance around the trans yet. I was up late enough getting to this point and now I'm off to work again.
