76 K5 Blazer Chalet - Put the ol girl out to pasture, literally.

Go after her ins and then file a civil lawsuit against her personally. I had to do that to some female dog who rear ended me while on the phone and putting on makeup in the morning about 8 years ago. Bent the frame on my 88 c1500. She was doing 40mph and i was stopped at a intersection. I ended up with 5k for the truck from the insurance co. and 9k from her in the civil lawsuit which covered personal damages and expenses. Lawyer wasn't that much either. He charged me around 2k if i remember correctly but did an awesome job. He brought up her DUI, recent traffic tickets and even a old car pool co-worker that said her driving was horrible. Judge looked at her like WTF? Plus she was arrested because i was pretty banged up and they asked her if they could check her car out and found something.

I would say a centering pin is broken. That bend is already in the frame for the shocks. Glad your ok tho!

X2 That is what i was thinking, Check that spring real close, they bend and brake easier then most would believe.

I hear ya man, but **** happens. Can't build your life around what might happen.....

Me and the girls are already planning the next truck. I should have the Chalet back tomorrow and then later this week the :hack:will begin.

Seats, cage and harnesses are coming first this time. Upgrades, lift and all that other crap will come later. Should be able to do the next truck a little quicker as I know a lot more about what I'm doing now.

How do you tell if a frame's bent? The rear is sitting a little crooked, but think that has to do with the pounding the springs took back there. Can't find anything noticeablebly wrong with the frame.

Thinking I may just try and find a good body for this thing.

easest way i have found to see if a frames bent is to just get a tape mesure out and start checking ur point to point messurments. example, if ur standing at the back of the frame facing the fuel tank, place ur tape messure on the rivet in the front driver side corner then messure to the passenger rear corner. take that messurement and go and messure from passenger front rivet to driver side rear corner, if the numbers the same just contenue further forward on the fame and so on. if u fine that the numbers off by more then a 1/8" the frames tweaked. two people make this job much easer then by ur self. messure every thing and ull be good. have done this a time or two and if the frame is tweaked theres a chance u can fix it, we have straitened frames more then once using two trucks and two hilifts and some chain. if u have any poblems or questions heres my cell number just give a call 317 522 6608.

The frame looks good in the pictures. It is also good your visual inspection did not reveal any major damage. I like how the subtitle of your thread has changed. 76 K5 Blazer Chalet - The end, or just another beginning? I vote for another beginning.

Saw you yesterday cruising your jimmy down teasley. I was going to blast my horns but traffic was pretty heavy so I didnt want to freak anyone out. Have you found a body to replace yours, I saw a 77 on craigslist for around 400 that looked workable.

That was me and my oldest probably. I love driving that truck.

Haven't been able mind mind about what to do, feel like a dang woman for lack of ability to make a decision. There's a decent looking 75 in Denison too that would bolt right onto my frame. The 77 in saginaw? Thinking about picking that up to turn my Chalet camper into a trailer'd deer stand. Don't think anybody will pay what I need for it, and I've got too much work into it to give it away.

But, wife and kids talked me into keeping the Jimmy and rebuilding it.

Here's me and my little one talking engine strategy today.

Will prob start a new thread once I get going. Going to build this one a little more street friendly and stock looking. 2" lift springs with 33's, ittle bit of body work and diy paint job, full roll cage with seats and harnesses, tube bumpers, keep the half ton running gear but build the 12 bolt up with some goodies and traction aid for when I do go offroad.

no use for a trazer.

Used a cutting torch for the first time yesterday and cut the thing up.
