76 k5 build thread -- gaps suck

I was able to get the transmission pan and flywheel cover sandblasted primed and painted at work 2day. I'm thinking of taking the pan one step further and doing a quick flame job on it. Here is how it came out so far.

polyurethane bushings really stiffen up the ride ive heard, is there anyone that makes a whole kit to replace all the rubber suspension bushings in our trucks?

It got kinda warm today here in new york. I mean I was still able to see my breath but it was warm enough to work. since I have the drivers door done I started messing with the drivers side floor, and left the passengers side alone until I get the passenger door back from the body shop. so I cut :hack: what was left of the floor and cab support out. Now that the rust is cut out I am again at a bit of a stand still due to the cold weather because I need to POR15 the frame and supports under the floor before I put the new pan down but i do have the pan in my stock of blazer parts. So as soon as it gets warm I will be able to paint the frame put on a new cab support, floor pan, and rocker.

Quick question on the flywheel cover... ...What would happen if you left it off? I was lookimg into buying another blazer and one I saw was missing the cover. I like the idea of flaming out your Trannie cover too. On my 95 Silverado I painting flames on my rear diff cover.

If you leave the flywheel cover off, you run the risk of road debris bouncing up and wedging in there, could be catastrophic. I'd find one ASAP if the truck I bought didn't have one installed already. You're just tempting fate.

i have never had a cover over my torque converter/flywheel. i have a few but just never put one on and it has been in some places i would have thought i would need one but never had a problem with it

Yes get one on there if you dont want to have to deal with the problems I've been having. My TO bearing is on its way out and I replaced it back in May. I never put the flywheel cover back on or the clutch fork boot.

so I got my firewall and the frame under the drivers floor that I cut out painted in por 15. it came out pretty good. The next thing i have to do is sand the firewall and prime it so i can put some color on it.

So after the frame and firewall dried it was time to drop in the new body bushing under the drivers floorpan/ cab support. I got a complete body mounting kit from LMC truck for just under 300 bucks. It comes with every piece of hardwear, nut, bolt, shim, washer and o yea rubber you need to mount the body to the frame. it even comes with new rad support bushings. So i put the bushing in under the cab then I let the cab back down and bolted in the new cab suport also from LMC truck. the next thing i gota do is some cutting and fitting of the new rocker and floor pan. i bet you can all guess that that also came from none other then LMC truck as well. as for that plate that goes on top of the cab suport well LMC truck DOES NOT sell that :angry1: so i made 1 out of a piece of steel plate. ill get some pictures up asap.

NOT any more. lol. the por 15 works great after a good grinding/ wire brushing. And the best part about it is that you can topcoat it I think I might end up spraying some rubberized undercoating from a spray can over it just to seal out any sand, mud, and water. the county tax dollars paid 4 about 10 cases. the cans are half dead but something is better then nothing. Gotta love a god old American county job :usaflag:

did you just put on one new cab bushing? i wouldn't go with the undercoating btw if i was you unless you plan on getting under there and scraping it off once it starts to dry up and crack. then you'll get all kinds of crap in there. it it was me id just top coat it with clear or leave it as is. if its dull from the grinding/wire brushing put another coat on it but it won't keep its gloss cause the sun will fade it, unless you clear coat it
